Auckland Restaurants

Off Shore

Any recommendations for restaurants in Auckland that are in the area of the harbor?

Many thanks

The restaurants up the Sky Tower are quite good but not cheap. One is a buffet, the other by menu. Great views. Usually need reservations which you can do online. Price includes ride up. www.skycityauckland.co.nz

From a Kiwi perspective, you can do much better than the Sky City. Here's a link to a site we use quite often when looking to try something different ..

Look at the menus, find a couple of places you like, then google.co.nz them for a review. As you're travelling on the US dollar, everything will seem very reasonable - seafood places are nice. We enjoy Swashbucklers which is a taxi ride away from wharf (probably less than NZ$20) but it's not cheap for us so is for special occassions. Always fresh and generous portions. Remember, no need to tip - but if you want to throw your change into the tip jar on most counters, they won't go astray. :)

Enjoy!

We are here in Auckland now just getting off the Diamond Princess the other day. We've been here 5 days and have eaten in the harbour three times. There are probably 20 or so restaurants all along the harbour area with a wide range of food types. We liked a place called Neptunes on Princes Wharf. There are other restaurants along the docks further up the road as well.

Let me know if you have any specific questions while we are here. We also at at Orbit a restaurant that rotates at the top of the SkyTower. The food was excellent and prices although somewhat high were tempered considerbly by the current USD exchange rate.

You will dock within walking distance of a great selection of Auckland restaurants.

There are some on the other side of the wharf from your ship,Princes Wharf, and then at the end is the Viaduct area which has a Restaurant Precinct.

Click on Dining Out for a list .

Check out Kermadec if you are looking for top shelf.

They all have menus outside and you can check out the look of each one from the street. You can generally pick out the popular ones as they are well patronised.
