Help with Timing Issues Please

Hi,

We are docked in Bridgetown on Sunday 22nd March from 8:00am to 4:00pm. I take that as then having to be onboard by 3:30pm.

I have booked a private catamaran lunch cruise that will arrive back at The Boatyard beach area at 2:30pm. I have been told that it will take approx 10-15 mins to then drive back to the dock.

Can someone please confirm if 10-15 mins will be enough time from The Boatyard back to the dock or am I cutting it too close to be back, by say 3pm at latest, as I don't want to ruin the day worried about missing the ship.

Thanks for your help

:)Carla

to then drive back to the dock. ===> 15 mins. would be bad traffic. 10 is more like it.

You didn't say what ship you were on but...

knowing ship times as I do (I take pics of them arriving and leaving, for my website)

I'm thinking that your quoted times of 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

are cruiser-ashore times

- based on ship real-movement times of actually entering the Port around 7 a.m.(entirely typical)

and by the time they've done the procedural paperwork with Immigration, etc.

there's your 8 a.m. time that you'll be allowed off the ship.

Most of them pull away from the dock at 5 p.m. or later

(4 p.m. is very unusual departure time...much too early)

and so there too is your 4 or 4:30 p.m. latest ..to be back on board.

I'm pretty sure that even if you left Boatyard at 4 p.m.

and got back to the ship's gangway by 4:20 , you'd still be in plenty of time!

No need to worry..

The times the ship gives to You The Cruiser are 1 hr. after actual docking time

and 1 safe hour before they're due to pull away from the dock.

I've seen people scramble back on board with less than 5 mins. to spare

but you don't want to do that.

You'd have to be seriously delayed, up at the other end of the island, to miss the ship!

Boatyard is right there, close to the Port...just on the other side of the central Bridgetown area

Thanks aplmac,

We are coming in on The Explorer of the Seas. When I originally booked the cruise the itinerary noted departure time as 5pm but then recently they dropped our last port & then moved the departure time from Barbados to 4pm. I don't understand why as we still have another port the next day (Antigua) but I really didn't want to change plans & go with the ships excursion.

I really appreciate your help, it's great to have some one local who can give us information like this.

Cheers

Carla :D

as long as you are back at the boatyard at 2:30pm you should have no problem getting from there to the port in 15min max (if that). Sunday traffic is nothing, soo.. should be fine. if you are taking a taxi to the Catamaran, I'd suggest that you have that same person meet you at 2:30 or have the catamaran people have a taxi waiting for you.

Enjoy
