I hate these new luggage tags

Has anyone else been emailed their ticket to print? They are actually sending you via the computer your luggage tag, that you have to print out on PAPER, and fold over and staple it around the handle of your luggage. Now I may not be a rocket scientist but it would seem to me that these stapled paper tags are fairly easy to fall off. I called Costa and told them I hope this wasn't a preview of what my cruise was going to be like if I had to print my own ticket and tags. She laughed and said, "well you can laminate them yourself." I said, "Why the hell should I have to laminate the damn tags. Why don't they just send you your tickets and tags like most cruise lines do?" That ticked me off. I don't feel comfortable leaving them on my luggage. I will have to ask for the sticky ones at the pier. Did anyone else get these tags yet?

We didn´t get our tickets yet, however the tickets and luggage tags for our november cruise in the Med were also self-print. I wasn´t to comfortable putting these self-print tags on my luggage, but it arrived well and the tags were still attached.

The ones you get at the airport are paper-tags too, and I don´t know why, they stay on the luggage...

Just print the tags, and fold the paper, don´t cut them out. The layered paper will give it some stability.

On our second Costa Cruise to Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale the agent curbside had a portable printer and printed out our tags when we arrived dockside after feeding in our reservation number.

The year before, on a Carnival Cruise, they had those printout tags. I was a bit worried , but if you follow the directions and double them up they hold pretty well. Best of luck!!!!

I'[m just getting started on this forum stuff. Don't know how to use it, but I share your reserve about Costa. They are getting pretty bad reviews on these message boards. Yes, my husband and I got those stupid luggage tags. I'm reducing mine and putting it in my luggage tag that has a slot for my name and address. If they want it different, they will have to make changes when we get there.

I agree with DarkJedi. I put a piece of clear tape on, then stapled them on as I left my hotel. It worked just fine, the tags didn't seem to be damaged at all when I got my bags. Overall. I think I spent less time printing the tags when it was convenient rather than chasing paper tickets.

Sue, if you notice a lot of those bad mouthing Costa have very low post counts. And almost all are Americans. Not to put Americans down (I am one after all) but many have very low tolerance for foreign customs, and with Costa it's all foreign.

As for the luggage tags I would advise not shrinking them and putting them in your tags. They will probably still find their way to your room but it may take a lot of extra time to get there.

The tags are colored and set up to make it easier to sort them and get them to the rooms as fast as possible. Anything that causes a slow down is likely to get your bag set aside and processed last. This has nothing to do with Costa and everything to do with how the entire industry handles luggage.

We had no problem with the emailed luggage tags. We just folded them on one piece of regular paper & stapled.

They all made it to our teen aged daughters and our oldest daughter & her family. In fact, we gave our original cabin to our oldest daughter & we just blacked out our name & wrote theirs & they all made it with no problems. (5 pieces of luggage!)

Hi guys,

We're sailing with Costa in a couple of weeks time and received our tickets through the regular mail today. Just like the last time (Costa Mediterranea, 2006) they're in the back of the booklet, coloured and self-adhesive.

Yeah!

Hi C& D Mitch

We enjoyed the Fortuna, but found that the buffet was not as good as the Mediterranea. However, the dining room was better so go figure!

The ship is beautiful, well kept, and our service was very good.

There are quite a few clubs and lots of music and dancing all around (if you like that which we do).

Had fun in the casino, too!

Didn't really swim just enjoyed the sunshine on the deck which was nice.

Tropical night was fun, and their late night buffets are always great.

Have a wonderful time! One of these days we will do the transatlantic. (I am flying to Paris on Weds and would much rather be on a ship!!)
