Mississippi1 Posted January 18, 2009 #26 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Can someone tell me how you know a restaurant is offering a two for? Is it listed in the daily, or maybe posted outside the restaurant? Also, is there a way to get coupons for the specialty restaurants? Thanks! hazeleyes Posted January 18, 2009 #28 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Can someone tell me how you know a restaurant is offering a two for? Is it listed in the daily, or maybe posted outside the restaurant? Also, is there a way to get coupons for the specialty restaurants? Thanks! There are options on some sailings in your Freestyle Daily you will see a 1/2 price special on some of the specialty restaurants offered on certain days and possibly certain times example 5:00PM to 6:30 or 8:30 pm to 10pm. Not all ships offer the 1/2 price special as my experience on most ships have proven to us. The coupons your refering to are offered by your travel agent. NCL does not give you a coupon book when you board. Call your travel agent and see if they offer it. On our other cruises weve gotten it twice only and it even worked in Teppanyaki etc. The coupon must be used on the first night when you board only. So if you receive it make sure you book the restaurant you want as soon as you board. Its only good for that night. The coupon book also has a buy 2 drinks get on free. It has coupons for the casino and other things as well. To me only the drink one and the restaurant one was good the others i did not use. The coupon book is not offered on all sailing either. Hope this helps.

DaisyL Posted January 18, 2009 #30 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Miss.... the 2-fers will be posted in the Dailies. Also, we always make a stop at the restaurant 'table' upon boarding to look at menus and find out what the pricing and specials they are offering. We would have the coupon books included in the docs. BTW, our cruise in May 2006 they did not offer any specials where they did offer them in the prior 2 cruises, on the same ship. Also, On our NE/Ca cruise in Sept. 2007 they offered 2-fers for diners after 9 PM. On this particular cruise the passenger average age was 65 yo. so there was no problem filling the restaurants early.

doodlesinkentucky Posted January 18, 2009 #35 Share Posted January 18, 2009 We were just on the Spirit and went to Cagney's and the Italian. In the past we have tried all of them. This time it was disappointing. The food was still good at Cagney's but still not as good as the past and the service really was lacking! Was disappointed the Itialian was a surcharge but it was honestly really good and the service was top notch. Their were no specials offered. I thought the main dining room (Windows) was actually all in all just as good-service and food!
coka Posted January 19, 2009 #36 Share Posted January 19, 2009 The prices have not gone up since Jan.1st. The names might vary on different ships, but the prices below are fleetwide. Carol_Hill Posted January 19, 2009 #38 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Incorrect--On the SKY, as of January 2, 2009, Cagney's was $25, LeBistro $20, not sure on the Il Adagio, but I THINK it was $15..
newmexicoNita Posted January 19, 2009 #39 Share Posted January 19, 2009 "Actually, the rates are higher (probably went up Jan 1 I suspect) Here are the latest, to my recollection and bill... Il Adagio - $20 Le Bistro - $25 Cagney's - $25 I am pretty sure both Le Bistro and Cagney's are $25 - I am not too sure about the Italian, as I only was there for 20 minutes...." Please say it ain't so! That's a $5-$10 price hike per person! wow, where did you get this information? even as a TA we haven't been advised of the increase... Carol_Hill Posted January 19, 2009 #40 Share Posted January 19, 2009 If you're talking to me, it's based on what they said on the ship, as of 1/2/09 sailing.
flashdog_1 Posted January 19, 2009 #41 Share Posted January 19, 2009 My TA received an e-mail from her NCL rep on Friday with an attached spreadsheet of restaurant charges. She forwarded it to me. I can't figure out how to copy and paste it into a good format, but the prices look to be the same across the fleet as the Gem below: NORWEGIAN GEM10 RestaurantsDining RoomsRESTAURANTCUISINECHARGEGrand PacificTRADITIONALN/AMagentaTRADITIONALN/ASUSHI (in Ginza)SUSHI$15.00 LE BISTROFRENCH$15.00 ORCHID GARDENASIAN$15.00 TEPPANYAKIJAPANESE$25.00 CAGNEY'SSTEAK HOUSE$20.00 TEQUILATEX MEX$10.00 GARDEN CAFÉBUFFETN/ABLUE LAGOON24 HR FOOD COURTN/ALA CUCINAITALIAN$10.00 So, Nita, is it really possible that ONE ship would charge higher prices? Can you, as a travel agent, check on this for us and post what you find? Thanks

newmexicoNita Posted January 19, 2009 #43 Share Posted January 19, 2009 So, Nita, is it really possible that ONE ship would charge higher prices? Can you, as a travel agent, check on this for us and post what you find? Thanks Believe it or not, yes...for years all the ships had free Italian dining except the Sun. Some had the same name for the restaurants, some had other ones. Le Bistro has had prices at $15 for years except one ship and I don't remember which had it at $20.00. Overall they will be the same, but there can be a few exeptions. Nita
cruizinwithkids Posted January 19, 2009 #44 Share Posted January 19, 2009 So, Nita, is it really possible that ONE ship would charge higher prices? Can you, as a travel agent, check on this for us and post what you find? Thanks I almost wonder if the ships have some discretion based on popularity. It seems that's the way the two for one's work. The spreadsheet that I received from my TA has all the prices on all the ships the same for the same restaurants. I really wish I could post the whole thing but just posting the Gem ended up a mess. newmexicoNita Posted January 19, 2009 #45 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Even though I'm on the Jewel, I got so scared I ordered the Romance Package. Just in case......;) Don't blame you, better to be safe than sorry. we did the same when sailing HAL a few years ago. We ordered dinner coupons for their sprcialty dining room when they were $20.00, just before they went to $30.00. To me, $30 is pushing it a bit. I am afraid we may see all the lines up the specialty dining room prices. As long as cruise prices stay down we can expect to pay more for everything on board.... mafig Posted January 19, 2009 #46 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Just a FYI, because this is a NCL board, but HAL dropped the price for Pinacle from $30 to $20....then after a few months raised it to $25. And $25 is where it stands now.

I did think $30 was too high, $25 is about max for us anyway..Thanks Nita
terrymtex01 Posted January 19, 2009 #48 Share Posted January 19, 2009 It will be interesting to get confirmation of the price increase or if they are staying the same. The specialty restaurants have been being more empty and more empty on every cruise we have taken. When we first sailed with NCL you were lucky to get a reservation at all. Now, you can almost walk up to any restaurant on any night and get a table. Or at least that is how it has been on our last two cruises. If NCL did raise the price, I think that was a very foolish thing to do on their part. Not that I would begrudge them doing it.. God knows the cost of food has shot way up at our local grocery stores here in Texas. So I am sure every one is feeliing the pinch.
