Don't want to do Berlin

Heinbloed, would you mind getting us price ideas (euros) for the train schedule from W. to Rostock (one way) per person late July and then the ferry ride back from R. to W. Also, return price on the train per person.

Greatly appreciate your help!

Train to Rostock:

http://heinbloed-cruiseguides.blogspot.com/2009/02/warnemunde-germany-rostock-buying.html

It's a commuter train: so best frequency is every 10 minutes during the rush-hour. Most time every 15 minutes and in the evening ever 30 minutes is the worst. So it does not make to much sense to give you the schedule. just go the station:

Boat to Rostock:

Getting from Rostock Central Station to Rostock Downtown:

Now you should all information you need.

Have a great day in Germany.

HeinBloed

HeinBloed,

I really like your recommendation about renting a car from Hertz at the port in Warnemunde. But everytime I go the Hertz website it says the location you mentioned is temporarily closed. Do you haveany information why? Thanks for you time.

HeinBloed,

Very simple:

you are on NORWEGIAN JEWEL leaving April 28, 2009 in Dover.

You are calling May 1, 2009 which is a public holiday in Germany. So the related office is closed but the release spot at Warnemünde Cruise Center is occupied as long as the ship is in town.

The best would be to write an e-mail to the location and make a reservation directly there.

Ask them to reconfirm with booking no. by e-mail.

The best would be to copy your request to e-mail (see orange line in signature).

If you do not get a response until Wednesday let me know. Then I can refer to your original e-mail and contact them.

Add the same information you would normally add to a booking.

HeinBloed

hi again Heinbloed, thank you for all your info.

one little question: when at the ticket machine to buy a day pass to/from Rostock, is it good for the train and ferry (I believe it is, but just checking first with you!)

secondly, how/what do you do at the machine to change from single person ticket to get a day pass (touch the screen or ...?)

thanks!

one little question: when at the ticket machine to buy a day pass to/from Rostock, is it good for the train and ferry (I believe it is, but just checking first with you!)

I charge by number of letters for answering... so "little" counts six letters more...

The "ferry"...

the ferry from one side in Warnemünde on the other side to Hohe Düne (just across the river)... YES

the "ferry" to Rostock is not a ferry line like other cruisers stated: it's a sightseeing line... NO - not included in the day pass.

secondly, how/what do you do at the machine to change from single person ticket to get a day pass (touch the screen or ...?)

I know that you want to trick me out, when you said ONE LITTLE question...

The touchscreen machine will not work for you beside you have a German bank card or try it if you US bank card (not credit card - MAESTRO) will work on this machine.

After entering the destination number you press in the

left column "Tageskarte VVW" for adults

right column "Tageskarte VVW" for children

Heinblod, I know there must be a link somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. We will be in Warnemunde on July 3 and want to rent a car and do the loop to Lubeck and Schwerin and Bad Doberin. Can you let me know the link to that information? Thank you!!

We are hoping to do the same thing when we arrive in August on the Rotterdam. Let me know if you find anything. Steve

There are some instructions available - but due to technical reason unable to keep it ready for download.

If you write me an e-mail (address see signature - orange line) you get a personal suggestion as ROTTERDAM is extremely early and late in Warnemünde. So there is a lot you can do.

Here are the instructions to rent a car and to get to the Autobahn (Interstate):

To fill out the rest of the day we should find a plan to fill your plans:

Schwerin:

Lübeck:
