perkyblue Posted January 23, 2009 #26 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Chair hogs and babies or toddlers in swim diapers in the pool. The worst was when I was sitting in the hot tub and a woman brought her baby in.

browneyes7 Posted January 23, 2009 #28 Share Posted January 23, 2009 No self-serve laundries. That is the only problem I have with RCI. I prefer to wash my own clothes.
SusieV Posted January 23, 2009 #29 Share Posted January 23, 2009 People who can't be bothered to dress properly for dinner because it's their vacation. Definitely people on cell phones. Please don't banish them to their balconies- I want peace and quiet when I'm on mine, not listening to someone's nonsense! Chair hogs. Babies in the pool/children in adults only areas. People who smoke where they aren't supposed to.

Rare silentbob007 Posted January 23, 2009 #31 Share Posted January 23, 2009 People who twirl their napkins about their head at dinner ... Illinoisgal Posted January 23, 2009 #32 Share Posted January 23, 2009 1) people who go before their deck or number is called on debarkation day 2) people who says room instead of cabin. 3) groups of various people who decide to chat right in the middle of the stairs/walkway etc. 4) people who dont do their research ahead of time then whine about it the whole time. 5) when they make me leave at the end :(
cccer Posted January 23, 2009 #33 Share Posted January 23, 2009 1) elevator button pushers. A few cruises ago there were three adults argueing in a language I did not understand. We got on a 5 and were getting off at 10. they pushed every button but 11 and when we got off at 10, they were still on. It's not only the kids. 2) People who wait 5 minutes to go up or down one floor on the elevator. Enough said. 3) People who win in the casino when I'm losing. What can I say, I like to win. 4) People who don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. Come on, doesn't anyone read the news. 5) People in Speedos. I agree with the above posts, we Americans may be to uptight about this, but I don't need to be traumatized by this. 6) No good sports to watch. I can get by without tennis and beach soccer. Don't get me wrong it took me a while to come up with this list. I love to cruise and this never bothers me. I'm on vacation I put up with enough at work not to enjoy a cruise. CruisinMermaid Posted January 23, 2009 #35 Share Posted January 23, 2009 About cell phones, we have the same issue at work with people on them in the restrooms. I have a big issue with this, most do have cameras and I am sorry but I feel that is a big infringement on my privacy. I can't stand people in bathroom stalls talking on the phone. I just think it's disgusting. I wouldn't let my friend come into the stall with me while I was using it, so why would I want them to "hear" anything going on in there either? sayaguru Posted January 23, 2009 #37 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Things that DO NOT worry me are:- People that call the ship a boat (I don't care what they call it). People that call staterooms cabins/rooms (again- don't care). People that get the elevator up one flight (they are the ones who won't be able to walk up one flight in 10 years time). People that don't dress up for dinner (as long as they are not flashing private bits at me I don't care what they have on). People that sit at bars for the whole cruise (they are not in my way). Who the Cruise Director is. My peeves are:- Disorganisation (eg staff not turning up for organised events). Chair hogs Rude people - those with no manners, talk to staff like slaves etc People that stand right up at the elevator doors. One man rushed straight into me as I was getting out. At least he said sorry. People that pile their plates and then don't eat half of it (I hate waste). It doesn't affect me initially but in the long run it increases prices. Inconsiderate people (loud, obnoxious, self centered). I have to admit fat blokes in speedos are a turn off but, hey, I'm no miss Universe and people have to look at me in my bikini. Rare Cruise Junky Posted January 23, 2009 #39 Share Posted January 23, 2009 For everyone that gets annoyed about "Boat" vs "Ship"...why was it called the "Love Boat" and not the "Love Ship" ?:p
kooljamming Posted January 23, 2009 #40 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Pax referring to themselves as loyalist. I think one should be loyal ONLY to God, family and country. Pax defending things they neither birth or marry. Pax who don't take the time to look to see if they are missing any other great experiences. Pax complaining about change while benefiting from some all along. Yes, I call the cabin a room, the deck a floor, the ship a boat. It's kinda new to some of us:D You do have the Love Boat
Illinoisgal Posted January 23, 2009 #41 Share Posted January 23, 2009 ohh I forgot smokers who smoke in the no smoking areas and people who while talking in their normal voice which is loud , using a curse word for every other word. We have taken 2 cruises out of a certain port where this was a problem. Im no prude but please dont say f*** , pu*** etc in front on my son . This was at family orientated places not adult only places also the people who complain that the staff dont speak english well

tip Posted January 23, 2009 #43 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Not to start fireworks, but smoking on the balconies! If they are going to allow it, make it at least on just one side of the ship. For the first time in 16 cruises, we upgraded to a balcony last year. The folks in the next cabin were chain smokers!
Grandeur Posted January 23, 2009 #44 Share Posted January 23, 2009 1. Diamond(+) Members who take over the Concierge Lounge like they own it - mooch off the free stuff - look at those of us who stop by for a drink here and there like we have three heads for sitting on "their" sofa or breathing "their" air!! We've all "earned" our standing with RCCL. 2. People who do not wash their hands after using the restroom!!!!!! 3. Physically abled people who hop an elevator to go up or down for ONE deck. Laurie12820 Posted January 23, 2009 #45 Share Posted January 23, 2009 People who are late to Muster!!!!!! No, really, we all love standing there in the blazing sun in those lovely orange floatation devices waiting for your clueless rump! How many announcements do people really need?! dutchess43 Posted January 23, 2009 #46 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Passengers that are demeaning to the staff & some think they are their servants. I have seen kids speaking to the staff like they were dirt I wanted to put soap in their mouths! I also can't stand when some diamond(+) or suite passengers must take over the concierge's time constantly in the lounge there are others. People in the buffe line that do use the utensils provided & then lick their fingers, yuck!
Toddcan Posted January 23, 2009 #47 Share Posted January 23, 2009 The Love BOAT. Cabin/Room.. really, how can this be a pet peeve? Lighten up. Technically, you are correct, it's a ship, and it's a cabin. Certainly it's not an issue to get worked up over. Don't be a right-fighter. :P However, I will say that a "pet peeve" is personal and is an opinion, but my opinion is that are deserving of my opinion on the matter. :p My pet peeves: 1. Rude people. 2. Overbearing, cronic complainers. 3. Self-proclaimed-know-it-alls. 4. Kids with zero social skills/manners (ties in to #1) 5. Line jumpers (this only really bothers me at embarkation, and debarkation)
Sue (mom of 3 boys!) Posted January 23, 2009 #48 Share Posted January 23, 2009 OK, I'll jump in.... 1) Rude/obnoxious people-- kids, AND adults. Sometimes people tend to complain about only the kids/teens, but honestly, I have seen just as many rude/obnoxious adults of all ages. 2) RCCL has rules but does not enforce them. 3) people who complain and end up having a miserable time because they look for the negative and overlook the positive. alphakitty Posted January 23, 2009 #49 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Beside the people who cannot wait for others to get off the elevator before they get on, why can't people walk up or down 1 flight of stairs?? I understand some cannot physically but I have seen many able bodies use the elevator for 1 or 2 flights, walk already, most of us in this country can use the exercise. I just have to say that you cannot always "see" able/unable bodies. How can you tell if someone is able to walk up stairs? I often take the elevator up 1 or 2 flights. I have arthritis in both knees and stairs hurt! I am able to take them, but if I do it often enough during the day, I won't be walking anywhere in the evening. So please, stop judging! :( I don't have any pet peeves(judgmental people?:p)...once I'm on the ship, I'm happy and don't pay attention to others unless they are in my face. MrZoey Posted January 23, 2009 #50 Share Posted January 23, 2009 Most stuff doesn't bother me, I'm just thrilled to be on a cruise, BUT why do people insist on bringing babies into the solarium? In December, my DH and I were sitting on the side of the solarium watching the water, enjoying the quiet when a mom, grandma and infant "rolled" into our space. With all the squealing, and cooing from all, the guy taking a nap next to us fled the area and they laughed about it. I've been know to throw my own DDs out of the solarium (all over 20), for bickering! People come in there to escape that stuff! On the rest of the ship, the kids (running and all), really don't bother me.
