NIGHTOWL410 Posted April 9, 2004 #26 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Hello, I think I figured out what the glow is..... I think it's a buoy marker for the Tidy bowl guy in there in his boat cleaning the toilet !! Nightowl.....

Bozo Posted April 9, 2004 #28 Share Posted April 9, 2004 That glow you are seeing is most likely coming from a ultra violet light. My job is in water treatment, pure water and waste water for a major pharmaceutical co. They have a desalination system on the ship to remove salt from the sea water to use onboard. They also most likely have a RO system (reverse osmosis) to further treat the water, the ultra violet light is part of the system to kill bacteria in the water. As far as the piping on the ship I would assume that all supply water comes from one source and all waste water is a seperate piping system but without seeing the ships drawings I can't be positive

kc320 Posted April 9, 2004 #32 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Is this light observed on all Celebrity ships or just Summit? I'm jealous though, we've been on RCL & Carnival & we never had a "nightlight" in our toilet. Sovereign Again Halloween on the Serenade
theawesome1 Posted April 9, 2004 #33 Share Posted April 9, 2004 We bought a $1 nightlight that is plugged into our surge protector extension cord that we plug into the desk outlet. I have had some painful trip into the bathroom on all the Princess ships going to the bathroom with the step up to get in. Now Celebrity, treating us famously, supplies a unique nightlight to stop accidents during the nightime run. Unless we will be seen on AFV as someone's funniest video....... ImpulsivePuppy Posted April 9, 2004 #35 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I have never witnessed this strange phenomenom. But it is worth booking a cruise just in the hopes that I can witness the 'toilet light.' It almost sounds as if it is a somewhat miraculous experience. As if you have been chosen, deemed worthy by some unknown power... -Michael (a.k.a. Impulsive Puppy) Grand Princess 98;Amsterdam 02; Mercury 02; Baby 04 To Cut, or not to Cut, that is the question... sailorbill Posted April 9, 2004 #36 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I hate to throw a wet blanket on this interesting discussion, but the glow is most likely due to the use of clear plastic piping in the toilet drain. This makes it much easier for the crew to determine the source of clogged piping when passengers put objects they shouldn't down the toilets. And passengers do it every cruise. The source of the light is probably from the piping chaseway. Bill
CruiseDiver Posted April 9, 2004 Author #37 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Looks like we may have a lot of future light hunters. Celebrity should give me a commission for getting people to cruise on "M" class ships so they can "see the light". After you see the light, you will become Keepers of the Light, but don't go to the light. Or else! Oh, oh. I may have started something else.
