hydrodriver831 Posted February 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Our family will be cruising to Alaska this summer (Aug 22) on the Golden Princess and have heard that because of its location E729 has a larger balcony than most other Mini-Suites. Has anyone had this stateroom? Thanks for any info. Mike and Candi
shawilson Posted February 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2009 This is a great cabin. The balcony is huge. Let me know if you want more pics. Enjoy
chamima Posted February 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2009 We just got off the Grand and had this cabin. It was wonderful!!! We had friends in 728 (port side, same cabin) who said it was really noisy. Make sure you have 729.
hydrodriver831 Posted February 5, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Thanks much for the pic. We did make sure it was E729. We did see that E728 was right over the theatre stage so wondered if it was noisey. Thanks for the heads up. Mike and Candi
Davey Interweb Posted February 5, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Echoing the sentiment that this is a great cabin. I won't book a mini-suite unless it's one of the handful of them on the Emerald deck, and the nearly double-wide balcony is just icing on the cake. shawilson Posted February 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Congrats on E729, you won't be disappointed. Here is the other angle for your balcony. Just a zip up to Lido, I snooze, DH brings me food, Oh Ya!

gunner22a Posted February 6, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Had this cabin our Hawaii trip last Nov. Not sure if Raul is still the cabin attendant but if he is you will not be disappointed with the service. He was great. I wrote his boss I letter to say so. The balcony is great. A bit windy on the actual crossing to the islands but a real treat to have when anchored. You will never want to go back to another cabin! When underway, if there was any wind, it wasn't too pleasent on the balcony (because of a partitian on only one side to block the wind). But at anchor, it was lovely. rccoble Posted February 6, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 6, 2009 The Emerald Deck minis are all waitlisted for our sailing. Are there any minis on the dolphin deck with larger balconies?
Toto2Kansas Posted February 6, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 6, 2009 The Emerald Deck minis are all waitlisted for our sailing. Are there any minis on the dolphin deck with larger balconies? All 9ft X 7ft, which is a nice size. Unless you plan to have a dozen or more people on your balcony. Table, two chairs and two chairs with reclining backs. Not a bad size at all and plenty of space. drjpreston Posted February 19, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Is there advantages of covered or uncovered balconies with the Mini's? BTW Thanks for the great pics.
Toto2Kansas Posted February 19, 2009 #17 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Is there advantages of covered or uncovered balconies with the Mini's?BTW Thanks for the great pics. The interior of the minis will be exactly the same, just one has a cover over the balcony area, the other does not.
can1981 Posted March 9, 2009 #18 Share Posted March 9, 2009 Thank you so much for all of the info and the pictures. My fiance and I are also booked in E729 on the Golden for our honeymoon in May. Looks like that cabin also has a nice aft view. I almost downgraded to a standard balcony...glad I didn't. Thanks everyone!
gunner22a Posted March 9, 2009 #19 Share Posted March 9, 2009 We had this cabin in Nov for our cruise to Hawaii and back. The balcony is great in port. You will find it very windy when at sea. Other than to step out on for a breath of fresh air and sight see in port it was pretty much too windy for comfort even when sailing around the islands. Don't get me wrong, we loved the balcony and cabin. Just being honest.
suzyluvs2cruise Posted March 8, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 8, 2011 I know this is a older thread but would like your opinions. We're looking to book an Emerald deck mini-suite for Hawaii. E729 looks great but I understand there are concerns about the wind while underway. How are the other Emerald deck minis?
