KandMGIn Posted November 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2004 We are returning to NOLA on Conquest on a Sunday around 8am. Our flight is not until 6pm. Any ideas on where we could store our luggage so we could tromp around the French Quearter??
Budget Queen Posted November 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2004 jumonviller@portno.com You could contact the port official?? Or perhaps consider checking bags at the Riverside Hilton, if they will allow it?
KandMGIn Posted November 21, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted November 21, 2004 We were not sure if a hotel would let us store luggage. Has anyone had a hotel that let them do this for a fee?
jgmpuma Posted November 22, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2004 I think the Hilton Riverside will let you do it. (504) 561-0500
Budget Queen Posted November 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2004 I would still email the above NO port official and see if they have a recommendation- I don't know if the port has lockers?
KandMGIn Posted November 22, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted November 22, 2004 Anyone heard of Rush It Service. I just called them and they have a kiosk at the Port and then an officer at the Airport. They charge $20 for the first 3 and then $5 each additional. They drive the luggage to the airport for you and store it in their officer. Has anyone used this??? Has anyone had problems with this?? KandMGIn Posted November 22, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted November 22, 2004 Budget Queen, The email you gave me is not the port official. It is the director of port services for the Rush It service I am talking about in the above post. Thanks for the email! Where did you find it at? TNCruiselover Posted November 24, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 24, 2004 We used Rush It back in Sept and would highly recommend it. It was very nice to leave the luggage at the port and pick it up at the airport. By doing this you can catch a cab from anywhere downtown to the airport and don't have to worry about making sure you have enough time to walk back to the hotel that is storing you luggage then catching a cab. Happy Cruising!:)
rt1092 Posted November 24, 2004 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2004 The number for Rush It is (504) 471-0080
ZLAretired98 Posted November 28, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 28, 2004 We used Rush It after our cruise on the NCL Dream this last October and it worked out great. They had a counter in the NCL terminal. We checked our bags with them and when we got to the airport we picked up our bags at their counter in the baggage pickup area in Terminal 1. Highly Recommended! The agent at the Cruise Terminal said the company was working on getting approval to accept luggage at the Cruise Terminal and being able to deliver it directly to the airlines, tagged for your flight. Don't know how that will work with the current TSA process, but it sure would be a great advantage for New Orleans cruisers!
loverofpepsi Posted November 28, 2004 #12 Share Posted November 28, 2004 Hilton Riverside is where we stored our luggage after our cruise. No fee, but we gave the guy a tip. Worked out great!
KandMGIn Posted November 28, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted November 28, 2004 I did talk to Riverside Hilto and they told me that they do accept luggage for a tip. If one can afford the rush it service, it eliminates having to go get your luggage from the hotel and cram it into a cab and then lug it all into the airport. There will be 8 of us with 16 bags or so...when we split the cost of the Rush It service, it wasn't that bad.
Marlissa Posted January 7, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 7, 2005 We were going to use the Rush service when we returned from the Dream on 12/26 but.... No one was there at 10 am. We did not reserve their services, we thought we could just walk up and give them our bags. Not sure if the weather is to blame (That was the morning of New Orleans snow/ice storm and seems that most people didn't make it to work) or we needed to let them know we were coming. My advice is to check with them when you arrive and verify their operating times. Marlissa
hlsess Posted January 18, 2005 #15 Share Posted January 18, 2005 Thanks-do you need to make a reservation or just walk up. Where is it at the airport? Thanks
Gryphon Posted January 21, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 21, 2005 Just called Rush-it.. to see .. and the prices quoted were accurate.. they also said that they would hold bags overnight.. (we're staying in town.. one night).. it's $18 overnight charge.. total.. not each bag.. thinking of doing that.. that way can look around and just keep basics for our flight out the next day. They said that you didn't need a reservation.. just walk up..
JeanneBop Posted January 25, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 25, 2005 You can also send your luggage from the airport directly to your cruise ship for check-in! Unfortunately, it's only if you're boarding on the same day. The rates are the same. Good deal!
