conjr Posted February 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Does anyone know if you can still order steak for dinner in the Main Dining Rooms, even if it's not on the menu? At one point, CCL let you order filet mignon, but the offering changed to steak at some point. I am curious to know if they totally absolved that offering altogether. theseyb Posted February 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Of all the Carnival cruises I've been on there has always been a NY steak or something similar on the menu every night.
faith31617 Posted February 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I was on the Ecstasy last December and was very disappointed with the steaks this time. When I went 4 years ago there was a different steak offered every night. NOT THIS TIME. Flat iron steak was on the menu one night and all the rest of the nights it was offered as an alternative.....it was the only steak offered every night!!! My DS couldn't even chew his, mine was tender and my DH's was couldn't even be cut with his knife without effort......so we were very disappointed in the lack of choicesor rather no choice at all! Deckhawk Posted February 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2009 There will always be a beef offering (filet, NY Strip, etc.) on the main menu that changes daily and then there is a flat iron steak that you can always get...
-ClevelandRocks- Posted February 15, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2009 We just sailed Destiny 1,31,09 and flat iron steak was offered every nite (along with snapper + a chicken dish). All 3 of us tried it on various nites and it was very good. I must say however the Destiny's food was the very best I've had on any cruise. I've always seen an alternate steak choice near the bottom of the menu along with a few others things that are available. Triumph in December and Liberty in January featured a most delicious Flatiron steak...cooked to perfection. In August, on Fascination, it was a Strip..... KenMo Posted February 15, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I just got off Destiny yesterday. They had Flat-Iron Steak every night on the menu. DH had it one night and said it was very good.

Lv2Camp&Cruise Posted February 15, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2009 On our cruise on the Fantasy in October I ordered the flat iron steak several nights with a baked potato. I am very picky about my steaks but was never dissapointed.

aggieastrosfan Posted February 15, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Yep! I eat steak every night. I always tell myself I'm going to try something different, but I just love my steaks too much!
mistyinca Posted February 15, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2009 They had the flat iron steaks each nite on the elation. It was good; it wasn't great, but it was good. One night, one of the main offerings was chateaubriand, but it didn't taste like it was tenderloin...

We had a older couple on our Conquest cruise who ordered steak every night, soup with those saltines that come in packages. All those crackers cracked me up, no pun. lol But they had the same steak for 7 nights in a row.
tnt091605 Posted February 15, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 15, 2009 We just returned from the Liberty. There was a flat iron steak on the classics every night. Then sometimes offered another steak choice for that evening. The flat iron steak was better than the strip. But the filet was better than the flat iron. Cotton Posted February 15, 2009 #20 Share Posted February 15, 2009 Got off the Fantasy last week. I was a bit disappointed all around w/the food. Not bad, just not up to par. The flat iron steak was offered every night, as was the snapper. The snapper was not cooked enough, but I wasn't that hungry so didn't send it back. My tablemates did not care for the flat iron steak. I agree w/mistyinca about the chateaubriand. I get it every cruise and have always been delighted....however, this time, it was four huge slabs of meat..lacking in taste, tenderness, and presentation. The last evening, I ordered only appetizer, soup, salad.

-ClevelandRocks- Posted February 15, 2009 #23 Share Posted February 15, 2009 You just can't go wrong asking the advice of your waiter. Last cruise I ordered snapper but my waiter suggested salmon. He was right, the salmon was better (I know cuz he brought me both). The previous cruise I ordered quail and my waiter snarled. I insisted and HE was right, it was horrible. Fortunately, he brought a seafood platter along and quickly swapped plates. When in doubt, ask those who know and you won't be disappointed.
