norbe37817 Posted April 27, 2004 #31 Share Posted April 27, 2004 It would sure take a long time to reel in a fish if you were on the 7th floor. It would take a heck of a lot of line too. peggy
Alexis Posted April 27, 2004 #32 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Hi TxShipShape, What you saw really was the crew fishing. We have seen it many times while on cruises. There is usually a line or two in the water from the opening in their deck whenever we are in a port. 12/06/04 THE EMPRESS OF THE SEAS. **10 ISLANDS IN 11 NIGHTS** VISIT OUR ROLL CALL HERE
gambler Posted April 27, 2004 #33 Share Posted April 27, 2004 All jokes aside, I have a friend on the Navigator and the crew really do fish off the back of the ship and then the "crew" chief prepares the fish for them to eat, a real treat considering what they usually get to eat. jnwilson Posted April 27, 2004 #34 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Wow- this thread is a breath of fresh air (a little fishy maybe lol)! I may have to pack up my Mickey Mouse fishing pole with my Donald Duck bobber for the next cruise. Better go to Wal-Mart and get some heavy test weight line though. Jaws look out! sandhillwings Posted April 27, 2004 #36 Share Posted April 27, 2004 It's not as expensive anymore. RCCL scaled back their prices. Almost caught a 37' goldfish while on deck 11. But it got away...
SeaPeaInn Posted April 27, 2004 #37 Share Posted April 27, 2004 While cruising in Alaska during the late 80s we chartered a fishing boat. We brought our catch of salmon and dolly varden back to the ship and they served it to us for dinner that night. Cruising and cruise lines have changed. redneck_dan Posted April 27, 2004 #38 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Sometimes I just get on my porch on Deck 7 of Explorer with a dip net and a knife. If someone from Deck 10 is reeling in a fish, I will dip net it, cut their line, and steal their fish. Marcys Posted April 27, 2004 #43 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Ok, a few questions (once I picked myself up off the floor from laughing so hard): 1. Do I need to get up early and reserve a spot with my towel for fishing? 2. Can I wear a thong while fishing? 3. If I don't catch anything, can I get a refund of my fishing fee, or maybe even a full credit for my cruise?

donrick1 Posted April 27, 2004 #45 Share Posted April 27, 2004 I have learned from RCCL that they will truly be offering on board fishing. They will be stocking the swimming pool with Tuna and Barracuda at certain hours of the day. They explained that this will eliminate chair saving and will give guests just another way to enjoy their vacation. All bait will be provided free, however there will be a small charge for equipment rental. For the real die hard fisherman, small boats with 50 HP engines will be available. Just keep in mind that you will be required to wear your life vest. Tight Lines!!
