And of course...there's nothing better than fishing from those aft balconies!! The corner ones are especially well suited for the sport icon_wink.gif

Hi TxShipShape,

What you saw really was the crew fishing. We have seen it many times while on cruises. There is usually a line or two in the water from the opening in their deck whenever we are in a port.

All jokes aside, I have a friend on the Navigator and the crew really do fish off the back of the ship and then the "crew" chief prepares the fish for them to eat, a real treat considering what they usually get to eat.

Wow- this thread is a breath of fresh air (a little fishy maybe lol)! I may have to pack up my Mickey Mouse fishing pole with my Donald Duck bobber for the next cruise. Better go to Wal-Mart and get some heavy test weight line though. Jaws look out!

While cruising in Alaska during the late 80s we chartered a fishing boat. We brought our catch of salmon and dolly varden back to the ship and they served it to us for dinner that night.

Cruising and cruise lines have changed.

Ok, a few questions (once I picked myself up off the floor from laughing so hard):

1. Do I need to get up early and reserve a spot with my towel for fishing?

2. Can I wear a thong while fishing?

3. If I don't catch anything, can I get a refund of my fishing fee, or maybe even a full credit for my cruise?

I have learned from RCCL that they will truly be offering on board fishing. They will be stocking the swimming pool with Tuna and Barracuda at certain hours of the day. They explained that this will eliminate chair saving and will give guests just another way to enjoy their vacation. All bait will be provided free, however there will be a small charge for equipment rental. For the real die hard fisherman, small boats with 50 HP engines will be available. Just keep in mind that you will be required to wear your life vest.

ok...this link was sent to me by a friend who we just cruised with on the brilliance. ummmm...the guys would have been better off had they fished off of one of the balconies or prhaps, the bow. the peacock fishing trip on gatun lake was such a joke, even they had to laugh. the guides tackle box??? A COKE BOTTLE!!!! now, there's some professional fishing for ya!
anyway, this thread is one of the funniest things i've read in quite awhile.
actually, there were a couple of items on the dinner menu we could have used as bait. the duck a l'orange would have been quite a'lure!
please don't stop this thread! it's funnier than heck and cheaper than therapy!

Hmmm.... I don't like the fact they're charging so much. I think I'll just smugggle some fish onboard in my luggage
