vkramer Posted February 21, 2009 #52 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Was on a Disney Cruise and Aaron Carter (brother of Nick Carter - Backstreet Boys), was filming a concert for Disney on Castaway Cay. Nick was on board for part of the cruise and I was elbow to elbow with him in one of the bars one evening. My daughter was so jealous when I got home and told her. MILEMRKR63 Posted February 22, 2009 #53 Share Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) My buddies and I were on RCCL Liberty of the Seas last year for my birthday. We booked the Royal suite for my big 40. It was amazing. While in the Concierge lounge the first night, the Concierge was talking to us and in walked Rusty Wallace. We are not nascar fans at all but we kinda knew who he was. Well, Rusty was telling the Concierge that the suite he had would be ok for him since they were unable to get the Royal suite. We just laughed. We had the suite he wanted!!!! He was saying how his "people" were contacting RCCL every day to get him that suite for the cruise up to the time of sailing. The Concierge walked Rusty over to us and introduced us as the guys who had the Royal suite. We then figured out why we had gotten several calls from RCCL to be moved, all with increasing shipboard credit during each call, to a different suite, but we refused. We booked it, paid for it and wanted it. We met him every night in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and he was extremely nice to us he entire week. He did ask to see the suite and of course, we showed him. Hehe we beat out a celebrity!!!!!!. Edited February 22, 2009 by MILEMRKR63

veryhotred Posted February 22, 2009 #58 Share Posted February 22, 2009 In 2001, my sister and I went on our first cruise to Key West and Cozumel. While in Key West, we went on a catamaran and snorkeling excursion. While sunbathing and drinking, we sat next to a man, his brother, his wife and 2 kids. We talked to them for quite awhile and took several pictures. All of them were very nice and down to earth. Next day someone commented on how cool was it that Rusty Wallace and his brother Kenny were on our excursion. Now I am not a Nascar fan but my sister is. We both asked which one was Rusty. They go you know the man you talked to for hours? Yes! That's him. So I have pics of Rusty in his bathing suit. lol Kenny Wallace is VERY nice!! I have pics of him with my kids. We met him at Homestead/Miami raceway while all the teams were there practicing for the race a few years back. He even gave my son a nickname and kept calling him that when he would see him. I am a Marine veteran of Desert Storm...I had breakfast one morning with a World War 2 Marine who was Jewish and a POW in Germany. I will never forget that breakfast. That is priceless!!! HMC RET Posted February 22, 2009 #59 Share Posted February 22, 2009 In 2007 on the triumph out of Miami we saw Andre 3000 from the pop music group Outcast. He was with his family and he was real nice. My DD actually played with his son the whole cruise.

bighairtexan Posted March 7, 2009 #61 Share Posted March 7, 2009 Hate to disillusion y'all but the Stevie Wonder who is flown in? Nuh uh. He's a Stevie Wonder look-a-like and he's on LOTS of different Carnival cruises. He's one of the Africn American singers that performs on different nights and he puts on the wig and costume. Come on, do you REALLY think Stevie Wonder is going to fly into Carnival cruises on a regular basis? If so, I've seen him 3 times. "Stevie's" been doing "surprise performances" for maybe 2 years? I got a kick out of people taking pictures w/ their cell phones of some guy and then talking about how they saw Stevie Wonder.

Cruise Hawk Posted March 8, 2009 #64 Share Posted March 8, 2009 Hi SKAY, my DW and I were on the Carnival Victory Eastern Cruise March 2008. On our last evening there was a Motown show with a "suprise visit" by Stevie Wonder. Some say he was fake but he sure looked and sounded like the real deal to me. joetop2467 Posted March 8, 2009 #67 Share Posted March 8, 2009 On our first cruise, actually the Dawn Princess in 1997, my husband and I had a dinner table for four. The first night no one else came and sat by us. The second night, our waiter told us that our tablemate was the entertainer, Red Buttons, and that if we wanted, he would be joining us for dinner that evening. We dined with Mr. Red Buttons two or three nights that cruise. He was very pleasant and we had an easy time talking to him. It turns out we are from Kentucky and his wife raised horses and came often to Kentucky especially the Kentucky Derby. Mr. Buttons has since passed, but we will always remember him as our famous diner mate.

DanJ Posted March 8, 2009 #70 Share Posted March 8, 2009 On Carnival, the most famous so far would be the guy that played Carmine on Laverne and Shirley. He performed on the Tropicale in 2001, and is surprisingly good (he does Tony Bennett type music). On the Grand Princess in 1999, Darius Rucker, lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish and currently solo on the country charts, got married. Him and some of his entourage sat next to us at karaoke night. I wish now I had the guts to sing one of his songs in front of him.
bennifer Posted December 10, 2017 #71 Share Posted December 10, 2017 Not Carnival , but Disney. We were on the Magic with Joey Fatone from *NSYNC. Rare jimbo5544 Posted December 10, 2017 #74 Share Posted December 10, 2017 The author of Selling the Sea ? He holds a place in the hearts of most travel industry people. He used to sail fairly regularly, and yes, I actually have signed copy. When we met on the cruise, we went up and introduced ourselves and said how much we admired him and his company. Next day we got an invitation dine with him and the senior staff. During that dinner we found out he had (at least at that time) one of the largest and biggest private wine cellars in the country. Great guy. Sent from my iPad using Forums
