Conte Di Savoia Posted November 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2004 We will be on Silver Cloud January 7 for the Sydney to Aukland cruise. Anyone else out there who will be joining us?
curlyQ Posted November 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2004 No, but darling ... it's Auckland A-u--C--k-l-a-n-d.
Zimmy Posted November 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2004 CurlyQ, that really was not very nice. These are posts, not formal written letters. When people are sitting at a keyboard, they often dash off a quick sentence. These generally are not printed out and proofread. This board serves best for communications, and not as a forum for the grammar and spelling police.
Rare Acrusa Posted November 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2004 Very well put, Zimmy. Couldn't have said it better.
SteveBear Posted November 25, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2004 You don't need to print out a post in order to proofread it. Anyway, given that the same word was misspelled twice in the same manner, there is reason to doubt that this was due merely to haste. Are "formal written letters" now the only medium in which basic literacy is required?
wripro Posted November 25, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2004 whether or not formal letters are the only place literacy is required it's still no one's place to correct another person's spelling or grammar on these boards. who cares of someone spells auckland with or without a c? now someone will come down on me for not starting my sentences with a capital letter!!! Conte Di Savoia Posted December 1, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted December 1, 2004 CurlyQ, thanks for the spelling lesson. I took the opportunity to read some of your posts and noticed the following in your November 25 posting to JoeWillie: ".... Had you have been able to go back to the start of the 2003 postings, you would have found many valuable pieces of information posted by many informed enthusiats." I believe it's "enthusiasts" e-n-t-h-u-s-i-a-S-t-s. One piece of good news is that you won't be on our cruise.
uk1 Posted December 1, 2004 #10 Share Posted December 1, 2004 You're all being rotten to CurlyQ. A bit of understanding please! I think you will find that CurlyQ is a Cunarder, and understandably therefore has a class-chip on his shoulder when mixing with the upper crust you find on the Silversea board. If he wonts to corrrekt my speling then let himm - thats what i say.
