My review Monarch 2/23 - 2/27

Recommended Posts

This is a few days late, but here it is. We went on the Monarch to celebrate our Birthdays and with my parents watching our kids, some time alone together. We left our house in Orlando at noon and was at the port 50 minutes later. Long line to get through security and lines were pretty long inside, but went through the platinum line and went right to the front. Got our cards, took our pics and was on the ship by 1:20. Dropped our carry ons in the room and went to lunch in the windjammer. Tried the famous Honey stung chicken... was very bland. not impressed. Walked around and booked our segway tour for Nassau at the explorations desk. Met some of the people from the roll call thread in the viking crown at 3, then did some window shopping. went back to the room to get our life jackets for the muster drill and proceeded to deck 7. We were in Oceanview stateroom 8008. Was small but very cozy. had a view between lifeboats and no obstructions at all. We had main dining table 162 in claude's dining room on deck 4. Great table mates, looked forward to dining with them every night. Entered the Slots tournament and finished 2nd overall in the preliminary round and third inthe finals. My machine went cold inthe last 30 seconds.

Day 2: cococay

unable to make cococay due to 15 foot waves and high winds, were able to get a berth in Nassau at 7pm that night, but did not get off the ship.

Day 3: Nassau

Got up early and had breakfast in the windjammer. After that proceeded off the ship to meet the segway tour guide at 815. a short taxi ride took us to the earth village. After a quick tutorial we were on our way. Had a blast riding the segways off road, was alot easier than I imagined. After that went shopping, then back to the ship for lunch. then Napped for awhile. we didn't go back onto the island again after that, did things around the ship.

Day 4: cococay attempt 2

again didn't make it but thats ok. enjoyed the sea day. Met with the Loyalty ambasador and booked a next cruise. Napped some more. and started packing for the next morning. Had priority disembarkation and was off the ship by 8am. and home by 9am. Weather was chilly all week and very very windy. Still had a blast. What a great way to spend my 32nd birthday and my Wife's 25th Birthday.

Waiter and assistant waiter were awesome. Cabin steward was OK, didn't see him much. This was the first cruise where I have ever seen the head waiter more than on tip night. He was always making sure everything was ok. Overall, can't wait to go again. Any questions, just ask.

Hi;

We usually do the Majesty once a year just to "get out of dodge" for a few days. I've never seen the Segway tour. Was that through RCCL or a private tour group? Sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Cheaper then the Baccarat tables at Atlantis too! :D

Thanks

Jon

not sure of the head waiters name, sorry. The segway tour was thru the cruiseline. no, no compensation is given and no compensation is expected. They say from the get go that the itinerary may change without notice.
