Jewel vs. Jade - Past cruisers chime in!

Hey everyone,

We just got off the Jewel and I am contemplating one of the Med. itineraries on the Jade. I know these are sister ships, but I'm curious what the differences are. Does the Medusa Lounge have the same "Whatever Rooms" as Fizz Lounge on the Jewel? What about the Great Outdoors, same?

I'd love to hear any other comparisons those with experience can offer. The NCL website is frustrating as it just reproduces the Jewel deckplan for the Jade (complete with the Jewel names for things) so I'm not sure if/where there are differences.

I can only tell you what my clients had to say about the Jade: they just returned Sat and couldn't find one negative thing to say. They loved the service, ship, food, everything. I will add, they had a suite which may make some difference..

I don't know about the Jewel, but I've now been on Jade twice and am still in love with her-until Epic sails. Yes, the rooms are there next to Medusa, and the buffet seems the same from the pictures, along with the great outdoors with its own buffet. On 2 sea days we had a German beer fest. outdoors complete with oompah band, dumplings and sausages! Is Jewel the one with bowling like Gem?-that's not on Jade. I think that the main difference is probably the decor-Jade was built for Hawaii and most of the art work reflects that. It's BRIGHT!-but very acceptable. Enjoy!-jocap.

You may be more interested in the difference in the passenger mix, when we were on Jade there were many more kids, many were Spanish families (Jade was sailing out of a Spanish port) who stay up late, and I mean LATE till 2am or 3am, at home in Spain they eat dinner very late as a matter of course and then socialise afterwards.

It was quite lively, not so relaxing for us as when we have been on longer cruises on Jewel. Just depends what you are looking for in a cruise. And it will of course depend on the time of year and school vacations etc.

Jewel does not have a bowling alley either , but it does have Wii bowling in the Fyzz lounge and Karaoke, now called Whatever, rooms.
