21" spinner upright carry on too big?

I am flying Delta and have a 21 inch spinner upright that I plan to carry on. It's 21 x 15 x 10. I, of course, will have everything important in that bag and don't want to check it. Their limit is 45 inches. Do you think this will "fly"???

The ships use the same size scanners as the airports. If it will fit thru an airport carry on bag scanner, it will go thru the ship's.

Your bag may or may not be permitted as a carryon. I think it may depend on the checkin and gate agents and how aggressive they are in measuring carryon bags.

If the limit is 45 linear inches and yours exceeds that, even by an inch ... you may be strongly encouraged (translation: forced) to check the bag and pay whatever associated fees. If that is the case, just remember that these staffers simply are doing their jobs as required by their employer.

Technically no as the total size is 46". That said, you probably will get away with it flying within the US. The only time I have ever had a carry on checked was in Heathrow. They have a box at each security point and if they suspect your bag is over limit they WILL tell you to put it in the box. If it doesn't fit, you must check it.

Cheers,
