ab0si Posted March 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2009 Anyone know why most world cruises (all?) sail west? Just guessing, but ... Given the choice between 25 hour days and 23 hour days, I'll take the 25 option. Is it really that skewed towards westerly? Intererestly
Rare MMDown Under Posted March 5, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2009 Anyone know why most world cruises (all?) sail west? Dawn Princess's inaugural Sydney to Sydney world cruise 104 days (northern summer 09) will be sailing east.
kitty9 Posted March 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2009 Also, a lot of times those cruises end in Europe so their ship is already repositioned for summer Med cruises.

Is it really that skewed towards westerly? Intererestly Bingo! We have a winner. Yes, not suprisingly, people would rather not lose a hour of sleep, but get an extra hour. I have heard that on some of the few easterly World Cruises, that the hour is 'lost' on sea days at 2 PM rather than at 2AM. I know I'd adjust to dinner being an hour earlier rather than getting up an hour earlier.
