cab or shuttle in San Francisco

We will be staying at the Sheraton in SF. How much is a cab from airport to Fishermans Wharf (hotel)? There are 2 of us. Is it less expensive to take Super Shuttle?

A taxi will run about $41 to the Wharf from SFO.

Supershuttle doesn't seem to have an example fare listing on its website. My guess is that for two the taxi is a better value even if Supershuttle is a little less expensive. Unless they have improved their act, you can be hit with significant wait time just getting out of the airport on Supershuttle. Then you have interim stops to deal with; although going to the Wharf area you would likely not do much back tracking.

Sorry to add complexity, but if you arrive in the middle of rush hour, 4:00 p.m. on a Friday for example, you may want to consider one of the other Shuttle services available out of SFO. With the shuttles you don't pay wait time like you do in a taxi if you're stuck in traffic. I usually had pretty good luck with Lorrie's shuttle - here is their link.

The third option, probably not the most ideal if you have significant luggage to deal with, would be to take BART to Embarcadero Station in the City and then grab a cab outside the Hyatt Regency (which is right at the Embarcadero Station) to the Sheraton.

Thanks for your suggestions. We are scheduled to arrive in SF around noon. Haven't checked the cost for SS yet but did take them a few months ago from LAX and were satisfied. Will also check your other shuttle suggestion.

Booked directly online, SS is $17 pp from SFO to a FW hotel. We will be booking them for May. If you google "Super Shuttle coupon", you may be able to get a further discount with one of the codes. Last I checked, there was a Sam's Club one that worked.

Hope this helps!
