Colo Cruiser Posted March 14, 2009 #26 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Tim, I, too, will be REPLACING YOU next week on the Ruby. I am concerned that we will have 1000 kids as well next week. I would really like your impressions on how that many children is affecting your cruise. What could you do about it now? I say go and enjoy regardless of how many kids are onboard. Rare skyking Posted March 14, 2009 Author #27 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Hello All, Quick update as I wait for my wife to get ready. The sail away party was like NO other sail away I have had...Tons of good music, lots of dancing, gonga lines.....They made it a point to wave and yell at the Condo's waving the flags...I got a lot of it on tape and lots of pictures. One quick correction to my earlier post.....I got an extra 20 minutes of internet for signing up today....The kids so far have been well behaved, and I am impressed with everything, WAY TO GO Princess! I will try to get answers to all of your questions, I can tell you that I just noticed in the Patters that the couples price for the Sanctuary is 150.00 total for the cruise. I will stick to the normal pool, but just wanted to share. Again I am impressed....We are off to dinner, I will report later. OHHHH ALL the crew I have contact with is outstanding:) Tim

lovevacadays Posted March 15, 2009 #30 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks for posting. I love reading "live from" posts. Glad to hear you are loving Princess. I too was a RCCL fan and then cruised Princess. Still think RCCL is a great product. However, I like the elegance and layout of the Princess ships. My first Princess Cruise was on the Sea Princess back in 1997. I've cruised on a Carnival and RCCL since then but most of my cruises have been Princess and Grand class ships. Booked on the Emerald in November. Hope you continue to love your Princess experience and enjoy all the ports!
rdsqrl Posted March 15, 2009 #31 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks for taking time out of your cruise to share it with us! I'm so glad your first day on Princess has been so enjoyable -- your enthusiasm is just bubbling off the computer screen!
disneydiane61 Posted March 15, 2009 #32 Share Posted March 15, 2009 What could you do about it now? I say go and enjoy regardless of how many kids are onboard. Nothing I can do about it, but prepare properly. First, I'll make sure that I RUN to the Sanctuary the minute I get onboard; instead of going 1st to the pursers desk to sign up for the Ultimate Ship tour. I'll plan dinners for later in the evening, along with planning to attend the late shows. Maybe set aside some extra $$$ for a couple of extra nights at Crown Grill or Sabitinis. Plan on ordering room service for breakfast or going to the dining room instead of the buffet. I don't intend or expect to avoid children, but minimizing the effects of 1000 kids on board will make my voyage much more pleasant. :-]
DEERINH2O Posted March 15, 2009 #33 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Thanks for taking time out of your vacation to post. I love reading live threads, especially when I am going on the ship in a few short weeks. Can you tell us what is playing on MUTS right now? I love MUTS, even if I have seen the movie before, something about being on the open water, watching movies. Thanks, Kathy

psbhappy Posted March 15, 2009 #36 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Sailed with you a few years ago on the Pride. Looking forward to reading your postings - we'll be sailing on the Ruby in three weeks. Would appreciate knowing which nights you would suggest booking the speciality restaurants - I know we'd like to book the Grill on the night when they have Caribbean night ....so if you could let me know which night that is - plus any other night that would be good to miss the diningroom and bok Sabatini's.Have great cruise! Sandy I went to the Crown Grill on the Monday of our Ruby cruise. That was the night we left Jamaica. I believe that is also the night they have Caribbean night elsewhere on the ship. kellor Posted March 16, 2009 #42 Share Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks for taking us along on your journey. We were on the Ruby in Dec and loved it! If you like really good coffee and/or hot chocolate the International Cafe on Deck 5 is the place to go - ask for Carrie Ann (she is from Ireland). Rare skyking Posted March 16, 2009 Author #43 Share Posted March 16, 2009 Hello All, Sorry I have not posted today, but it was a filled day of laying in the sun and relaxing, a nap and then dinner...We just closed down SKYWALKERS and it is now 3:40am:) We had a fun day, the CHAIR HOGS were out in force today, but we got lucky and found two lounges at the MUTS pool...They played the Bee movie and it was fun, I am SOOO sun burn..The food has been amaaaaazing, we have anytime dining and have not waited more than 1 min for a table....TONS AND TONS of kids onboard this cruise, but in all honesty they are very well behaved and it is a far cry from our Queen Mary cruise, so I am totally OK with it. TONIGHT I got luck, we were in the casino and someone gave me there raffle tickets cause they were not going to be up past 11:30 for the drawing...WELL I WON a FREEEE swedish massage, they gave me a certificate to redeme at the spa, so I will do that tomorrow for sure:) The seas have been good and smooth for the most part....I am NOW LOYAL to Princess, SO LONG Royal:) I will post more some time tomorrow during the day in Jamaica:) GOOODNIGHT! That's about 1/3 of the ship would be kids. My son and his 3 buddies are going with us but that would be too many kids for me !!! Dan

Rare skyking Posted March 16, 2009 Author #50 Share Posted March 16, 2009 Hello All, We are coming to you LIVE from Ocho Rios, we will setting sail soon for Grand Cayman, so I wanted to come on and say HI. Last night was great, and the food at dinner is amazing. We have anytime dining and it works very well for us. The first night was very very slow, but last night we were out pretty quick. Today we stayed on the ship and relaxed. We sat at the MUTS pool and watched some movies, Hancock played and another that we didnt watch, this is a really cool thing that they do. The raffle tickets were given to people that were playing the tables, believe it or not we were watching a table when a guy gave us his tickets cause he said he was not going to up at 11:30:) at 11:30 they had a raffle and gave away 4 prizes, like spa stuff and 500.00 for any painting. Of course we won the massage. The amount of kids onboard has not been a problem at all for us, as a matter of fact they are very very well behaved so far. Well folks I am going top side for sail away, will take lots of pics and post them later, the puters in the cafe have card readers so I will figure that out for you all. Ciao for now!
