mactrio Posted March 17, 2009 #51 Share Posted March 17, 2009 TERRY!! One more thing we have in common! I LOVE Dexter!! He's the most original character I've seen on tv in years - such refreshing deviance!! ha ha ha You know, when I saw that episode, my interpretation (read: suspension of disbelief) was that the 'cruise' in question was a smaller, non-mainstream type where they allowed the old fashioned practice of having non-passengers on board for socializing and then called the 'All Ashore' before sailing... (I can rationalize ANYTHING! ha ha ha) :p I LOVE Dexter. The best show on tv by far. I never miss an episode and I tivo them and rewatch often. newmexicoNita Posted March 17, 2009 #52 Share Posted March 17, 2009 I must chime in. We were on the same cruise as hammsz and while on board we heard the story that someone had been smuggled on board and someone had been arrested. Never heard the ending how or what happened but did hear the beginning and wondered the same thing..How could someone actually get on??? We hear lots of things that are more fiction than fact. All it takes is one person to start something. Like someone mentioned, it is like the old game gossip we played as kids at parties. You say something and the next person repeats what they heard or thought they heard..By the time it gets back to the first person it is nothing like it started. I can give you a prime example..We were on the Star a couple of years ago; I was talking to a young couple who were complaining that we were late getting into Acapulco. I mentioned to him, I had heard that sometimes they are late because of engine problems or they miss Acapulco altogether. End of conversation (btw we were only an hour or so late) that night or the following night I was visiting with a guy in the casino. He told me, he had heard from a couple that one of the engines was not working, that is why we were late getting into Acapulco a few days before. I asked him where the couple heard that? You guessed it, from me, of course...This is how rumors start.. Oh, I wonder what sorority the girls belonged to? lol Nita
newmexicoNita Posted March 17, 2009 #53 Share Posted March 17, 2009 I went ahead of my husband and son to get on the ship in Guatemala and forgot that my DH had my card and even though I had my ID and knew my room number, they would not let me on unless I had my card and they had to run it thru the system. I just can't see how someone could be snuck onboard. So I highly doubt that the OP got the 'whole' story. I am 99% sure you are right, especially during spring break...I think all security is in full force... There are those of us who a skeptics (me) those who know the chances of this happening are slim, but of course almost anything is possible I guess and those who want to believe it happened. They will continue to believe it..I would add, if there was much truth to it, we would have read it on the net or heard about it on TV. The gal getting arrested, maybe not, getting arrested for trying to stow-away someone, yes.... Nita

cv322 Posted March 18, 2009 #64 Share Posted March 18, 2009 Forgive me if this was already posted (didn't read all 4 pages)...but we're supposed to have 2 forms of ID with us and one must be a picture ID, right? So even if this guy lost his sign & sail card, wouldn't he have to present his passport, passport copy, or a driver's license? I believe the OP was told this story, I just sincerely doubt the validity of the story. It made for interesting reading though!
