suzy5555 Posted March 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2009 Make sure when you are booking with a company that you know what their cancellation policy is. Our March 15 Millennium cruise was cancelled by Celebrity for mechanical problems. My tour was prepaid and non-refundable. I couldn't even get them to answer my emails when stating I had to cancel. Some of the people on my roll call stated that they got refunds from their Mount Classic Tours. Mount Classic Tours - good for you - for doing the right thing!!!!!
fllady Posted March 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2009 that is one reason we always book thru the ship. Some of the tour operations don't care about you, just the $$$ live and learn.:(
Kiwi Kruzer Posted March 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2009 Very good point you have made. We always check the cancellation policy and will only book and pay in advance if there is a full refund if the ship has to miss the port. I am quite prepared to pay a deposit in advance that is non refundable , as the tour operator has to set that day aside for you. I much prefer to book, take the tour , and pay when it is completed. Not always possible or practical though. I guess its a matter of weighing up all the options.

Yes, this was a big cancellation no doubt, i think they had about 200 passengers booked for tour who would have all had the deposits by now. It does pay to check with the company you book with what their refund policy is, the good ones should offer the same conditions as those offered by the ship. You should not worry about going private if you check things out first and you will save a heap of dollars over the ships own tours and will get a more personal service.
