Cash from the Casino

Yes. If playing at the tables, 3% surcharge. If playing slots, no surcharge, $100 max at one time, done right on the machine.

This was my experience on Eurodam last week, Not sure if all ships have the automated function on the slots...

To avoid the 3% surcharge, you can just set up a line of credit in advance of your cruise. Then, you can sign markers to get chips at the tables or casino cage. At the end of the cruise, you can write a personal check for the amount of any outstanding markers if necessary.

Looking at the other end of the casino ... when you win ... wouldn't it be nice if HAL would offer to keep the winnings with, say, a 50% bonus to apply to your next cruise? For example, if I won $2,000 in the casino, I let HAL keep it in return for a $3,000 credit toward my next cruise. What do you think?

Although each one of Carnival Corp ships has their own separate “players clubs”, all the ships casinos are operated by Carnival Corporation Casino Division out of Miami, FL and they are the ones that establish lines of credit. If you’re sailing on HAL, go to www.oceanplayersclub.com. There under the FAQ section you’ll see the procedure for establishing a line of credit. They will send you an application that needs to be faxed back to them. They will require photocopies of a check from the account you intend to use as well as all the normal information one would be expected to give when applying for credit.

They will not process your application until 2 weeks before your cruise. Approximately one week prior to your cruise they will inform you that you have either been approved or not approved (in my case this has always been by phone). They will notify the ship that you are coming. Once on the ship you will have to see the casino manager or cashier manager as they will have a form ready for you to sign. This allows them to compare signatures etc when you get markers at the table.

Credit approvals are good for one year – although if you intend to use your line of credit in the same year you will need to notify them so they can inform the particular ship you are coming. No lines of credit are given by the casinos unless they have been informed ahead of time by CCCD.

I hope this helps!

Does HAL allow you to make cash withdrawals from your account for the Casino.

When I have been on other lines I have taken my sail card to the cashier & signed for

$100 I could buy chips or use it on the slots. this amount was added to my account..does HAL do this ?

Personally, although I enjoy gambling (Blackjack and Craps) it is not an important part of my life. We would never consider taking out money for a 3% surcharge. It becomes CCLs loss when we do not gamble. In most casinos they pay me to play (with comps, free drinks, etc) but on some cruise lines they expect me to pay for the privledge of using my own money? And slot players should take note why the cruise lines do not charge a percentage to use the slots. Would you think that the slots are set to payoff with lousy odds and they are so profitable the cruise lines do not want to discourage players? Games like craps and blackjack offer the house a very slight edge, but slots....... well, they can set them anyway they please since there is no gaming commission at sea.
