CowPrincess Posted April 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Can anyone tell me how much OBC is offered in the "Welcome Home" letter if you book within the 90-day window? Specifically for an oceanview cabin, 14 day cruise? Thanks in advance (we had a crisis in our home office and I've lost a LOT of info!)
brownie1005 Posted April 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Our Welcome Home email offered $50/pp for 1st and 2nd guest in OV stateroom for cruises 12+ days (not including Grand Voyage sailings). Hope this helps!

CowPrincess Posted April 3, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Maybe you get the e-mail ones. We get ZERO from HAL except the welcome home letter -- no e-mails, no mailings, no specials, no brochures. Zip, zero, zilch. Have tried and tried, and have given up. I now get them from a client when she is done with them.
brucory Posted April 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2009 We have never received a welcome home letter either. How do I get one? We get the sale emails though the bargains are better at other outlets IMO... :D:D:D

We get ZERO from HAL except the welcome home letter -- no e-mails, no mailings, no specials, no brochures. Zip, zero, zilch. Have tried and tried, and have given up. I now get them from a client when she is done with them. Our "welcome home" email came exactly one week from the day our cruise ended. We also get sporadic emails regarding sales. Is it possible your SPAM filter is catching them?
CowPrincess Posted April 3, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted April 3, 2009 No, not the spam filter. I've decided HAL doesn't want to communicate with me :D I've spoken with people, e-mailed, filled in the web form again and again. Zero. Sigh. It's tough to be an outcast :D

I checked and surer than heck they had the wrong old email listed.. I corrected it and the emails started coming in... here's the direct link.. http://www.hollandamerica.com/marinerSociety/Main.action ...in the very first part you'll see they ask you to update their database.. click on that link.. might be worth a try... CowPrincess Posted April 3, 2009 Author #11 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks for the link -- all the info they have is correct, but that IS one form I'd not found before! Maybe now they'll "get it". Or not. I've given up hope :D
Chrislynn55 Posted April 3, 2009 #12 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Our cruise ended on March 22 and we got a 'welcome home' voicemail from a HAL service rep yesterday. He left a lengthy message with his name, number, and extension, and said he hoped we'd had a great cruise on the Veendam, asked if we had any concerns on our cruise, and commented that he would be sending us brochures with upcoming itineraries for Holland America. We've never had a follow up anything after any of our other cruises....this was a nice touch!
scottjeanne Posted April 3, 2009 #13 Share Posted April 3, 2009 We received the welcome home letter with the credit that ranged from $25 to $100 depending on the category and legnth of cruise. WE booked the 17 day Panama canal transit and used the future cruise credit we paid for on the Christmas cruise. The porblem is you cannot use it with any other credit-future cruise, TA OBC, carnival shreholders credit. So it is virtually useless unless you do not have any other OBC. pms4104 Posted April 3, 2009 #16 Share Posted April 3, 2009 We received only one welcome home letter over 3 years ago. At that time, the benefit was $125 OBC/cabin if we booked another cruise within 30 days. Length of sailing and cabin category didn't determine the amount. But ... we no longer get HAL emails promoting sales or offering welcome home incentives. Perhaps it is because we now use a T/A rather than booking direct with HAL. And, yes, I checked my Mariner profile, and the correct email address is on record.
m steve Posted April 4, 2009 #17 Share Posted April 4, 2009 just a lot of brochure mailing every week from HAL, Princess and Cunard. We get 2 of everything as we have different last names but always travel together and live at the same address.
brownie1005 Posted April 4, 2009 #18 Share Posted April 4, 2009 I found it interesting that after our December cruise, my husband and daughter (1st time HAL cruisers) were sent mailings with much more substantial OBC offers than I was! We were in the same cabin, live at the same address - only other difference being that I previously sailed w/HAL and had a Mariner's number. Hmmm...
