Question on RCI upgrade

from what I know, it's a complete crap-shoot as to who gets one and when.

I don't think anyone has figured out a pattern or set of rules that apply.

Maybe it's Pin the Upgrade on the Passenger?

I've known 1st timers who have gotten upgraded. There seems to be no real "formula" that RCI follows. Guarantee bookings are sometimes "upgraded' to the next catagory cabin--but that doesn't ALWAYS happen! (and that's what the 1st timers booked--gtys)

I've never gotten one, but we always book a specific cabin number.... Our tablemates on one cruise were upgraded from JS to a GS.

All you can do is keep your fingers crossed, but don't hold your breath!

We had booked 3 GS's in a row, then decided to book a JS. We were upgraded to a GS. Was it because they felt we were accustomed to a GS and would not mind the switch? That made it 4 GS's in a row.

We sail again in less than 70 days. Have a JS booked again. Been checking website looking for bargains and noticed quite a few GS suites open.

Will we be upgraded again??? We shall see.

We're on Mariner of the Seas out of L.A. tomorrow Sunday April 5th).

We sailed on 3/22/09, checked in at around 12:15 no waiting in line to check in. cabins below deck 8 were not ready for guests til after 1:00. very few people on board before 3:00.

GREAT SHIP ENJOY YOUR TRIP:)

We're Diamond + with 32 RCI cruises and have never been upgraded. But then we always book the cabin we really want.

We do know first timers who were upgraded.

I agree, it's a crap shoot.

We have 38 cruises with RC and have never been upgraded.....I have tried....but always with no luck....our last cruise 3 D+ couples were in inside cabins and we know of several not D+ who were upgraded.....doesn't seem fair.......
