I just spent an enjoyable half hour watching the Ruby, the Euorodam, and the Independence of the Seas sail out of FLL.

There's a site called the Port Everglades Inlet Cam, and it's kind of neat watching the ships leave port.

That's quite true, but I'd rather be on one of them. :D Nancy

There's an empty lot off the 79th st causeway where you can stand and the ships

slide right past you, almost close enough to throw a ball to.

When you're down there for a Sunday cruise, it's fun to set up a time to meet to

watch the Saturday ships leave, and then go to eat with your Cruise Critic buddies.

I love this site and Wiley does a great job of manning the web cam on sailaway. I don't get to watch often on weekends, but when I am home, I always try and "tune in" to his site.

The Crown is in port this morning, so if you have a hankering to watch her sailaway, tune in about 5 PM. There's also the Soltice, a HAL, and a Carnival ship in port.

Can you imagine being on the Inlet and getting to watch this every day!

Good thing I don't, because all my $$ would go to cruising on every ship I could afford passage on!

Thanks for the website. I just added it to my bookmarks. Guess watching the ships sail is better than nothing, but agree it's better to be onboard. We sail in less than two weeks from a port near home so won't have to fly! yippee

A good web cam, but the link to a porn web site is a definite negative.

What are you talking about? There are NO such links! VERY RARELY Google will serve a "web cam" ad that is "questionable" but never pornographic. I have no initial control over this and remove them as soon as I see them.

InletCam is SAFE and family-friendly for all to view.

Thanks, InletCam Guy, for the great site. It's one of those sites that I check out every day.

If I knew where to look for the location of the webcam, I'd be sure to wave the next time I cruise out of FLL!

Yes, the people come out to give a nice send off to the ships on the weekends. During the week don't expect to see the people out along the Inlet. Here are a few pictures taken from the Ruby as we sailed out the Inlet on 3-14-09. You can see people at the vacant lot mentioned above. Also a guy that comes out and talks to the people on the ships with his bullhorn. People with Princess flags in front of one of the condo buildings. And people in a condo with a Princess flag waving to the ship.

We got to stand out on the rocks at the opening of the Inlet on February 22nd watching 7 ships leave. It was so much fun waving at everyone and taking pictures of them and so understanding the feeling of leaving on a cruise. It was even more exciting the next day when we were on the ship leaving. As we were leaving, we passed by InletCam taking pictures of us. I was yelling and waving at Wiley taking pictures of him while he was taking pictures of us. Funny, but in the picture he took of me, I had my camera in my face taking a picture of him.

Great pictures, Bill. Thanks for sharing. I think it's really cool to see those Princess flags flying. Wish I had one of them. I'd fly it in front of my house!!!

Now I need to book a cruise out of FLL so I can look for the inlet cam!

I found these pics from the Ruby Princess sail away on 3/14/2009 and thought you would enjoy them. They are taken from the site of the MortgageMobile.com webcam site. You can see it live at http://mortgagemobile.com/Ft_Lauderdale_Florida_Web_Cam.html

There was also a sail away video taken of the Ruby Princess that day and it will be posted to the webcam page in the next few days.

Enjoy!
