Muster Drill

Be sure to take your sunglasses . For some reason, regardless what side of the ship you are on, the sun will be right in your eyes.

But the best thing about the muster drill, besides everyone is chuckling because they feel ridiculous, is that the ship is leaving port soon! Run down to your stateroom, throw that stupid orange thing onto the bed and go scope out a great spot on the upper decks!

Bon Voyage!

If you don't go to muster drill, they will track you down (usually a letter will appear in your cabin) and you'll have a "make-up" session the next day.

Why wouldn't you go to a muster drill?? It's for your benefit. You'll learn about what you might need to know in an emergency. But then, maybe you're one of those folks who ignore the flight attendants who try to explain what to do on an airplane should there be a problem....

Just go and get it over with. I've been on ships where they've held everyone until they were all checked in ... let's just say that most people were not happy with the passengers strolling in 15 minutes late with an officer escort.

Yep, I might be one of them folks....I guess since they have cameras all over the ships then having intimate relations on the balcony during the drill is a no-no also? Hmm.. I may have to try just to see what happens, and see if I get that letter you speak of.

Actually, I have no problem going to a muster drill. My OP was just a basic question about is it mandatory. I was just intrigued by the above response. It didn't take long for the negativity to start up. So I figured ME BEING ONE OF THOSE FOLKS I should say something to shock Ms. Uppity.

On Princess the Muster drill is done in Lounges- Very easy - over within a few minutes-- you dont have to wear the life jacket until they tell you to. (show up at the last minute-- you have to stand because there wont be no more seats left)

Everything is closed-- stewards are supposed to go in and check the cabins.

(i dont know how they would do a roll- call to see if you are there or not)

What's funny here is how uptight everyone around here is.

This subject is not a "funny" subject. there is nothing funny about the muster drill- it can save your life if there is indeed an emergency.

There are some HOT subjects that you should steer away from- this is one.

Muster Drill IS serious. Also, it is a PITA waiting for those who think they have something 'better' to do while the rest of us are waiting for them to be called again, and again, and again....

FWIW - after our first cruise, the ship sank on the next sailing.

I wasn't shocked. Or offended. I really don't pay much attention to stupid responses.

CrownGal--I hope you have a great cruise! On our first cruise we felt totally stupid walking around in our life vests. But we discovered very quickly that the muster drill can be a hoot:D Lots of folks are already 3 sheets to the wind by the time they get there, you're packed together like sardines, it's hot, smelly...all part of the "welcome to your cruise" experience. We look forward to it now! Go to the drill, enjoy the show. :)

BTW if you get intimate on your balcony just remember those cameras are on the outside of the ship. Someone else might be enjoying YOUR show
