Just back from Enchantment...so dissapointed TO BE BACK! LOL

Continued from Part 1... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=106849

After the drill we decided to go up to deck 9 (the main pool) and listen to the Caribbean music. It was fantastic! Started the trip off right! I ordered my first Pina Colada and danced and partied as we sailed out of FLL. Our luggage arrived about 5:00 pm so we unpacked and relaxed until dinner. The first night we were too tired from traveling so we had dinner in Windjammer. After dinner we went shopping in the shops on board (I got some great bargains) and then off to the casino. I had such fun in the casino.

Day two-Day-at-sea….We had a blast on our first day at sea. We partied by the pool, shopped, ate, relaxed, gambled, and explored the ship. It was formal night so we all dressed up in our suits and evening wear. We went down to have formal pictures taken (pics ran $14.95 for a 5x7) then on to the captains party in the Carousel lounge. This was very pleasant. We had cocktails (free I might add) and listened to the captain and met the crew. We had caviar and petit fours <sp> and danced and chatted with some really nice people sitting next to us. It was a totally enjoyable day.

Day three-Ocho Rios Jamaica…We decided to go shopping and then to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. This place was great! We sat on the beach for awhile and then went by the pool (cool swim-up bar and slide) we drank Red Stripe and listened to the music. My father and his friend went and did Dunn Falls they said it was lovely. If you go to JB’s get there early because it starts to get busy by about 12:30. We had a great time talking to everyone (We were the only ship in port so lot’s from Enchantment). We went back to the ship, ate again, and then relaxed by the pool.

Day four-Grand Cayman…I had decided that I wanted to go to the beach. About 9:00 am we went down to deck 1 and boarded a tender (very painless) for a 5 minute ride to Georgetown pier. We hoped into a shuttle bus and the driver dropped us off at Sea Grape beach. Hurricane Ivan’s wrath was everywhere. Very sad the devastation left behind but still a very beautiful place. I recommend Sea Grape beach highly. We rented a beach chair for $10.00 (the chair came with a bottle of water or soft drink so if you figure water costs about $3.50, I figured it was worth the $6.50 for the chair) The little bar was right by us and the waiters would serve you right on the beach. Very nice! There were changing rooms and spotless restrooms and a shower. Very handy. The only bad thing was that drinks were pretty expensive, $8.00 for a Cayman Mama of course I paid the price and it was very tasty. After about 3 hours we decided to go back and shop a little. We got back to the ship and checked out some of the decks we hadn’t been and then went to Windjammer for a quick bite.

Day five-Day-at-sea…Pretty much relaxed and did about the same as our first day-at-sea.

The food was great! Never had a bad meal. Our servers, Zolton and Sergy were fantastic!! Oh and sooo cute! Woo hoo! Food I would recommend (My Fair Lady) would be: Appetizers- Shrimp Cocktail, Mushroom Pastry, Garlic Soup, and Lobster Bisque. Entrees-Rosemary chicken w/garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, Chicken Marsala, Tempura Sweet & Sour Mahi-Mahi, and Beef Tenderloin in peppercorn sauce and for dessert the Tiramisu, Apple pie ala mode were yummy and the Grand Marnier Soufflé is phenomenal! The food in Windjammer that I enjoyed was the bee stung chicken, the curry chicken were among my favorites. The chocolate chip cookies were so good! I also like the day that they served nachos and all the fixins’. We had room service for breakfast most of the time and it was very good! I did have breakfast twice in Windjammer. There was an omelet station along with waffles, pancakes. The buffet had eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, hash browns, and all kinds of fruit, pastries and croissants. Yummy! I would like to say that I found the coffee to be excellent! I ordered it every morning from room service and it was very good. The iced tea had a lot to be desired but that was ok because I am not a big tea drinker. I also had a cappuccino from Seattle’s Best, very good!

Debarkation went fine. We waited for about 2 hours but that was ok…longer on the ship I say! We used the same transport service without a problem. We arrived back in St. Louis at 3:30 with no real (plane was 20 minutes late…no big deal) problems.

Sorry this is so long but I had such a great experience I had to share it with my CC buddies! If anyone has any questions please feel free to e-mail me.

One final note Matt Baker was awesome! Wiggy wiggy wow! (I hope thats what he was saying...LOL) :D

Kim, thank you for the detailed review. I felt for you when I read about you tripping in FLL. I am a total klutz, so you have my full sympathies!

Your review has made me even more excited - I have also been planning our cruise for over a year and love hearing all the details about Enchantment. I promise to write a full review for all those wanting the goods :D!

My stomach is in knots thinking about all that's left to do before we leave on Sunday. But I have a grin on my face.

Thanks again!

Not going out of Philly but Ft. Lauderdale Oct. 24. My mom and dad live there so it is always an extra time to see them also. This one is a cruise with my girlfriends. We've talked about doing it for years. Have to revise my signature...Philly would be great though if the itinerary was what I wanted. Have a great time on the Jewel...:D

Baby Sam,

Is there any way that you could check on the compasses (if you have them) for the name of the Calypso band? I would appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

Stacy

Heatwave is the name of the band. They were great by the way...so enjoyed them out by the pool!

Great review. You had me going. Glad you had a great cruise!

So you passed on BC's huh? Glad you ended up with a good service. Would you recommend them?

Are you able to email the compass'?

Sorry you fell and had a bad hotel, but the rest of it seemed to turn out really well.

Dawoods - looks like you go out just after we return. Looking forward to it.

We're going also in February. I wanted to know if there is a caribbean night where you dress in caribbean clothes and have a buffet by the pool. If so, we have to remember to pack our caribbean clothes.

Glad you had a great time, your title scared me too!! Sailing for the first time in Feb on Enchantment with hubby and two kids! What time did you get off the ship? Still trying to find some decent airfare for our trip... thanks

We had blue tags (our flight was 12:55) so we waited by the Solarium pool for our color to be called. We were called at 9:20 am. It wasn't too bad...we waited by the pool until 9:15 and as we were getting on the elevator they called our color so we went to deck 4 and waited in line to go through customs, then out to the pick-up area. It wasn't too bad.

Great flights on Southwest...where are you flying out from?

Have a great trip...you are going to love it! :)

We got great rates on USAIR out of Manchester for January. I also saw they were having a sale for some airfare. They are in financial trouble, so just do some checking. Have you looked at JetBlue out of Logan?
