What can you use on-board credit for?

Recommended Posts

We booked AOS with $100 on board credit. We have 2 cabins, so that means $200 of total credit. What can this be used for? Anything at all (drinks, excursions, tips, bingo, etc.), or just shop purchases?

Thanks in advance to the experts.

anything and everything! Basically, you will see a credit on your account (check the TV).

Happy Cruising!

Basically when you are onboard, you use your "sea pass" card to pay for everything like drinks, store purchases, etc with very few exceptions (some casino??, cash is not used onboard. All of your purchases goes onto your account. The OBC is credited to your account, so yup, you use it to "settle your account".

Theoretically, this is true. However, on a cruise last year, my credit card received a $24 credit, which was the balance left after we didn't use all of our OBC.

The "Use it or Lose it" policy is fairly new. Once we actually got a refund too.

Only purchased OBC can be refunded. Such as Royal Visa OBC or TA OBC. Next cruise or stock OBC is forfeited if not used.

You can also use it for gratuities. :)

Just a quick note to let you know that your credit will not show up until perhaps the second or third day of your cruise (or some time after leaving port). Point is, it will not show up right away and you shouldn't panic. If you are due, it will be credited to your SeaPass account.

Have fun!

this is very true....always shows for us about the 3rd day. Funny story on Mariner a couple weeks ago...bought a soda package for my daughter, and it showed up as a $275 dollar charge! The friends we were traveling with had the same thing happen to them. Of course after I pointed it out with guest relations it was taken off, but WOW!! That's a lot of soda :D

I use the OBC for everything purchased on board and for tips. In March, we had not used all the OBC. On debarkation morning, I went to Guest Relations, closed out my account and received almost $100 in cash. I'm saving it to use for my next cruise.

The quote above is correct. Some OBC can be returned to you on your credit card, others cannot. It shows on your ship board account as to which has to be spent onboard. Although, with a $100/room, that will go quickly if used for gratuities.
