Too late to purchase insurance?

Recommended Posts

IF RCI cancels the entire cruise, they will have to refund your money whether you have insurance or not. The chances of them cancelling the cruise due to the flu is very very small. What they may do is re-route the cruise away from any Mexican ports. You may still cruise, but not to the ports you were originally scheduled for.

They have already rerouted their Mexican Riviera cruises for the whole summer.

I purchased CruiseCare once and they give you 75% of the cost toward another future cruise if YOU cancel for non-covered reasons. As stated above, if they cancel the cruise, they always offer you another cruise or a refund.

If they substitute a port for a canceled one, you get no compensation; you get the new port!! :D

It's never too late to buy travel insurance. The only difference in timing is buying within a short time after booking to get pre-existing medical conditions covered. If you have HMO medical coverage, most of the biggees (we have Kaiser) cover you out of the country, and include medevac. I buy our insurance a few months before the trip, because the closer the travel date, the higher the rates.

Probably been asked a zillion times..BUT...we sail on the 10th on RCI. Is it too late to purchase "Cruisecare" and do they fully REFUND if the whole trip was cancelled due to Swine Flu?

You have to call the travel Insurance company and ask if they will cover Swine Flu they may not.

You have to read the fine print or ask.

I would say NO! In "Cruisecare" contract book it reads their is not coverage for the norms under the 60 day rule iincluding...

"- other condition, event or circumstance occurring prior to your purchase of CruiseCare."

If you bought 2 months before the swine flu was known to be a problem you would be good. Kinda like buying life insurance when you have been given 10 days to live.

Agree. Read the FINE print. Don't cancel assuming they are going to pay cause if they don't you lost everything. You have to cancel your cruise before submitting a claim.

Have not watched the news but as I read further through CruiseCares Exclusins it states it "Will not pay for any loss under the plan caused by or incurred resulting from: 1) epidemic and/or pandemic 2)......

Think your out of luck with CruiseCare.

.

Isn't the Mariner rerouted up to and including the June 14th sailing? Not the whole summer. This is from the TA portal

The ship's May 10 sailing will feature a port call in Astoria, Oregon, rather than San Francisco

At the current time, our revised itineraries for Mariner of the Seas are scheduled to take place up to and including the ship's June 14 sailing

Guest currently booked on the revised sailings have three options:
