Weekday or weekend

Recommended Posts

We will be in London for 5 days post cruise, from a Wednesday thru Sunday. On two of those days (each on a different day), we want to do a side trip out of London, one to Paris on the Eurorail and one to Stonehedge and Bath. Is it recommended that we do these side trips on the weekend or on weekedays?. Which might be more crowded?. I would assume going to Paris on the weekend would be more crowded, but couldn't you say the same about being in London during that time?.

Do the main sight seeing points in London become more or less crowded during the weekend?? (Museums, London Eye etc). Is everything open on Saturdays and Sundays, opposed to during the work week??

Pretty much everywhere in London will be open on a Sat & Sun although some might have reduced opening hours on a Sunday. Travelling to Paris on the Eurostar will also probably be busier, plus will probably cost more than a weekday. The same applies in terms of costs for travelling to Bath if you are going by train. It is generally cheaper to travel mid-week in the UK. Also, there are quite often works on the line over the weekend on the train system. It might be worth checking to see if you can pre-book some tickets which would work out cheaper. I know you can book the London Eye online which would save you having to queue on the day.

Whatever you decide you'll have a great time.

If you're docking in Southampton, Bath is considerably west of Southampton and London, and in terms of travel, you'd be better off going there 1st direct from Southampton, and then on to London.

We will be docking in Dover. WE had planned on taking one of those all day bus trips to Stonehedge, Bath and one other stop. That is why we were curious if doing somehting like this on a weekend would be preferable to during the week.
