Carnival Triumph vs. Carnival Fantasy

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone out there!

Planning a cruise for March to celebrate another anniversary! We have two options....the Triumph out of New Orleans or the Fantasy out of Mobile. We chose these ports because they are closest to us (hubby doesn't fly). I am trying to deYoucide between the two....our last cruise was out of New Orleans' date=' but it was on the Sensation. I am wanting anyones opinions that have been on these other two ships. How do they compare. The Triumph we can get a whole lot better price on, but they do not have the balcony suites like the Fantasy (we had this room previously and loved it!). The price difference is substantial....the Triumph is just a regular balcony room. Anyone have some opinions? Thanks so much for any and all input!

Happy Cruisin' Everyone[/quote']

You went from bad to worst.

I haven't been on Fantasy but I have been on Triumph and Elation (same class as Fantasy) and I researched Fantasy because I picked Triumph over Fantasy for my last cruise.

I liked the layout of the fantasy class better because everything is on decks 7-10. Triumph was more spread out. On Triumph the atrium bar and guest services were on deck 3. The casino and lounges are on deck 5. Then lido is deck 9.

Triumph and Fantasy both have Guy's Burgers and Blue Iguana Cantina. Fantasy does not have the Alchemy Bar or the Sports Bar. I picked Triumph over Fantasy because of those bars and because I could get a room on the Lido deck. On Fantasy the room would've had to be down on deck 7 or up on deck 11.

I think I'm hooked on the Lido rooms so I would pick Triumph again.

Thanks. We'll just be doing an interior room on either one, so that's not a deciding factor for us.

I think (?) the Triumph has 4 water slides and 3 pools and Fantasy has 3 water slides and 1 pool. With 3 kids, this might be a deciding factor. I guess the Triumph is newer (?), but the Fantasy was remodeled this year (?).

Anyone has more information, I'd love to hear it. My personal research is sorely lacking.

If Waterslides for the kids is your priority, choose Fantasy. It has the long enclosed slide and the racing slides. Triumph only has one sled.

REALLY?!?? I don't know where I read it had 4. That's kinda a big deal with us. Is there some spot that delineates which boat has what extra activities? On the Carnival website all I see is the generic Waterworks page.

I have cruised on both ships and I preferred the Fantasy to the Triumph (but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that). The Fantasy is smaller than the Triumph and I feel that it flows well and is very easy to find your way around. I just didn't feel that the Triumph was as easy to get around on as the Fantasy class ships are. I also really like the water park that is on the Fantasy...much better than just having the pools on the Triumph.

Triumph has no Waterworks. It has the 3 pools and the 1 slide. One small pool is near the slide. Fantasy has one pool and Waterworks, which consists of the long twister slide, the racing slides and some squirty, spraying stations.

Very interested in this comparison also. Fantasy is less expensive for us so deciding if worth it. Husband enjoys the EA Sports bar but says it's not a deal breaker that Fantasy doesn't have it. I also heard that Fantasy was getting the Hub. Did this happen or is it supposed to happen soon? Does Triumph have the Hub? Thanks for any info.

I can see it's better. Is it worth the extra money?

I just noticed that you have children. When I cruise with my kids, I always try to chose a ship that has more kid activities. In this case, the Fantasy is the better choice. It has the Waterworks which the Triumph does not.

The bar second from the back on Fantasy has TVs that are typically showing sports.

Triumph, just because it is out of NOLA. great city. Try to spend a few days there. The WWII museum is a must see. Also beignets at the Cafe Du Monde is not to be missed. And while you are at it cross the street to the Central Grocery and have a mufaletta sandwich.
