tommygirl1 Posted May 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2009 My mother and I are planning to book an Alaskan Cruise on the Veendam. We are planning to book an Inside cabin. Would it be better to book a Category I cabin on the Navigation Deck or a Category J cabin on the Lower Promenade Deck? Thanks in advance for your help! You are just steps away from a balcony :). I sailed on the Veendam to Alaska in an inside on the LP deck, and loved it. The deck is so close. RuthC Posted May 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2009 Take it from a confirmed cave-dweller---Lower Promenade. Those J-cabins aft of the atrium are ideal. As a matter of fact, one of them (I won't say which) is my favorite cabin on the S-class ships. Should the seas get at all rough, it's smoother there. As previously noted, you have quick access to the largest veranda on the ship. You can run out to get a quick peek, and run back in to get something you forgot. It's also easier to get to/from lifeboat drill.
