ARe port parking garages 'safe'??

The other time we took a cruise someone dropped us off/picked us up. Now I'm looking at week-long parking. How safe are the lots?

Should be fine as long as there isn't a hurricane (right Firefly).

 

Iv'e never seen anyone post about getting ripped off or anything.

In Baltimore the lot is very secure, the entire cruise terminal is surrounded by a high fence. Also, you have private security and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police monitoring the place.

I've parked at the parking garage in Miami, the garage was fine we had no problem at all (once we got to the garage) the traffic flow from where you drop off your luggage to the garage is insane.

Galveston doesn't have a "garage" but the lot is fine.....EZ park is cheaper and the car was fine there too.

 

maybe if you mention the particular port your going to park at you might get better info...

If you are talking about parking in Galveston, check out EZ parking or Lighthouse parking. We used EZ and had no problems at all.

We have left our car in parking garages at Port Canaveral, Tampa and Port Everglades and never had an issue.

They are pretty safe but just make sure you don't leave stuff (especially valuable) laying around in plain sight - that is when things are tempting and cars tend to get broken into!!! Just be safe/smart about it!!! Have fun!!!!!

In New Orleans and Mobile, you park inside the terminal building which makes it a bit safer than the open lots at other terminals.

The Ft Lauderdale parking facility is fine. As some one else mentioned, when leaving it is still a nightmare to get from the parking facility to the ship to pick up the luggage. The car and bus traffic is a nightmare. You can try and take your luggage with your to the parking facility but that is a tough way to go. If you can get one of the porters, they will take all your luggage on a cart directly to your car. What a blessing. That saves you about 45 minutes. It's worth the $5.00 or $10.00.

They are probably as safe as any other parking lot, i.e airport, hospital,malls. Heck I had a car stolen out of my driveway.

They're as safe as any parking garage. If you're sailing during the peak of hurricane season, though, try to park as high up in the garage as you can.
