DougandEric Posted May 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2009 We're on the Golden in 11/2009 to Hawaii. Since the Golden just got the new Vines wine bar, if you find a bottle there you like that isn't on the MDR wine list and buy it, can you take it into the dining room without paying a corkage fee? This assumes you can buy bottles and not just glasses. Thanks, Doug
jfv379 Posted May 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2009 That's a good question? I presume the corkage fee in the dining room is only for wines brought on the ship. The question is how would the DR people know that it came from Vines. Possibly Vines sends it to the DR with your name and table number or maybe just show your reciept. LARGIN Posted May 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2009 You will not have to pay corkage on wine purchased at Vines since the majority of wines served are on the Main Dining Room wine list.
Alli Cruiser Posted May 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2009 Doug & Eric, We did this last summer on the Crown (Baltic 10-day) several times. They simply put our name on the bottle and we were able to enjoy the rest of it in the dining room later. They asked who our waiter was and which dining room/seating. Enjoy your cruise! goingcruisinn Posted May 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2009 Is the wine cheaper at Vines? Or is it that there is a better selection.
Colo Cruiser Posted May 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2009 If you bring wine onboard and it is the same as Princess carries for sale there is no fee. :)
DougandEric Posted May 14, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted May 14, 2009 Thanks all. Does anyone have the wine list from Vines available? I'd like to see what's on it and the pricing.
Debathome Posted May 14, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2009 They also do a flight of wines for tasting. Three glasses of wine, 3 oz. each. Anywhere from 8 to 12 dollars for the flight. Great way to sample some new/different wines. They also serve you a complimentary cheese tray along with it. We also ordered a few tapas from the International cafe, $1.00 dollar each, or you could try the sushi made fresh right in Vines, and had this as our evening meal. They stock about 35 wines.
