Cabs from Ft.Lauderdale to the port.

Recommended Posts

This is from about a year ago or so when we last took a cab from FLL to Port Everglades

  • $2.50 First 1/6 Mile
  • 40¢ Each Additional 1/6 Mile or
  • 40¢ Each 1-Minute of Waiting Time
  • $10 minimum fare for trips that begin at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport or Port Everglades Seaport

NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE SHALL BE MADE FOR EXTRA PASSENGERS OR BAGGAGE

The port is actually about 4.05 miles from FLL airport.....throw in some red lights, etc and that gets you to about 15 bux give or take.

We took a taxi from Ft. Laurderdale Airport to Port Everglades last week. To the port it was $20.50 because we got held up for about 10 minutes at the port gate security behind 2 huge trucks & 2 other taxis. They charge you .40/minute for each minute you sit. On the way back to the airport it was only about $15. I would take the taxi again over the bus any day.

One word of warning...but a small warning.

Ours cost us $28...however that was because there were 5 MAJOR ships in port that day. Everyone and their brother was trying to get through that small security entrance. There was also construction in the area.

I've heard that it's usually a wicked easy process. Coming home was easy, though we had a very rude cabbie. For a 10 minute ride, who cares?!

It cost me $15 plus tip. If you are lucky there will not be more than 1-2

cars ahead of you waiting to pass through the security gate.

The pier is like 10 minutes away. The problem seems to be

traffic getting there including cars and truck deliveries to the

ships. They have to supply the ships with all the stuff they need for us.

You could take the shuttle service for $10 but it just takes too long for

a very little savings because you usually have to wait for them to

fill up the van and even before that you may have to wait for the van.

Take the cab and avoid the stress. Just do not go last minute as thats

when the stress kicks in!!! I arrived at the pier near 12noon and I

was surprised how many people had the same idea.

another thing to beware... get a cab that has that fare printed on the side. I made this mistake Saturday. To make a long story short, some friends of ours got sucked in to a ride I knew wasn't good and I should have bailed them out, but I went along with it. Anyway it cost us $30 for four people for less than a 10 minute cab ride.

Today, on the way back we paid about $15 for the four of us.

We took a cab from the port to the airport on May 21st (5 night Enchantment of the Seas cruise) and it was $18, which included a 20% tip. There was an airport shuttle also but the guy said it was $11 a person, so we actually saved money and didn't have to wait for the shuttle to fill up. Took about 10 minutes I think - this was on a Thursday morning so traffic wasn't bad.
