Buchart Gardens Sat. PM fireworks

Recommended Posts

Looks like we will be in Victoria on Sat night July 11. I've heard Buchart Gardens has a fireworks show on Sat evenings. Our port times are from 5pm to 11:59 pm. Would we have time to see the fireworks?

Maybe - but with a short port time, I would only suggest that you take the ship's tour to ensure you get back to the ship in time. The fireworks are extremely popular and the traffic afterwards can be horrendous - so if you're on your own (i.e. not on a ship's tour) and get caught in the snarled traffic; chances are you will be arriving back at the dock in time to wave goodbye to your ship. In July, the fireworks won't start until around 10:00; they last around 45 minutes (or longer), you have to be onboard by 11:30, travel time from the Gardens to dock is 30 to 45 minutes so it is highly unlikelly that you'll be able to stay for the entire show.

I'm pretty sure that even the ship's tours do not stay for the fireworks on Saturday nights.

It would be almost impossible for them to get back in time for sailaway. The Gardens are

an absolute zoo on fireworks nights as it is and the crush after they finish is something else.

Not that they aren't enjoyable, it's just having thousands of people all in a small area going in the same

direction at the same time. Buses and taxis are also slow leaving the area afterwards.

Hi,

We are in Victoria on August 15, fireworks are scheduled for 9:15pm, according to Buchart's website. Is this still cutting it too close to make it back to the ship by taxi (pre-arranged pickup at 10:00pm)? Ship leaves at midnight.

Thanks so much!

Short answer is Yes it's cutting it too close. Take the ship's tour, there will be thousands of people all trying to leave at the same time, along a narrow road, it's going to take longer than the usual 45 minutes.

It is cutting it close. There will be a huge rush coming out of the fireworks at 10pm, and Butchart is at the end of a 2 lane rural road
