royalcruz Posted May 25, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Renaissance 17th St (across the street to the pier)Embassy Suites 17th St (2 long blocks from the pier) Hilton Garden Inn 17th St (Across the street to the pier) Hyatt Pier 66 17th St (Across the draw Bridge with views of the pier) There is no Hilton Garden Inn in the 17th St area. But I do agree that if you are staying only one night that 17th St is a good place to stay. There are also Hyatt Place, Hilton Marina, and Holiday Inn Express in addition to the hotels listed above. There are better hotels in Fort Lauderdale, but not right by the entrance to the port like the 17th St hotels.

royalcruz Posted May 25, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Is there a liquor store near any of these hotels? Yes there is a Crown Liquor and a Total Wine & Spirits, and Publix, CVS, and Walgreens sell beer & wine. Just don't try to buy any alcohol on Sunday mornings, as they cannot sell it until noon. The whole street caters to cruise ship passengers' needs. There are lots of restaurants too.
Spender Nui Posted May 25, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Is there a liquor store near any of these hotels? Use the Total Wine. Best selection and prices.

lorriv20 Posted May 25, 2009 #12 Share Posted May 25, 2009 When we went we were on a tighter budget and stayed at the Amerisuites. Not really a fancy place, but he room was clean and had a kitchenette. They offered a shuttle from the airport and a shuttle to the cruise port. There was a shopping center with places to eat, a grocery store and a liquor store within walking distance.
jericho2009 Posted May 25, 2009 #13 Share Posted May 25, 2009 How about a moderately priced hotel for post-cruise. We are thinking of staying over for a couple of days to go on the air boat to see the glades.
Pia1913 Posted May 25, 2009 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Wow, did this thread deviate, as most of them do. However, the original poster asked which hotel was the best. Not the cheapest, not near stores, not near port, not with free transport or car parking. Just.....the best. Therefore Ckr31, my original response stands. Marriott Harbor Beach. If you use the website ValuePlace. you can get a very good price. It is convientent to everything, and offers shuttle service from the airport and to the ship. They also havw a very nice buffet breakfast.

Pia1913 Posted May 25, 2009 #24 Share Posted May 25, 2009 The correct answer would be LAGO MAR!!! Karen Lago Mar Resort and Club is mainly a business hotel used for conventions, since they have a huge conference center. A one night stay pre cruise would be a waste of time and money. Keith may be correct about the Ritz, but I'm a Marriott girl. :D
springfire Posted May 25, 2009 #25 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Hollywood Westin Diplomat is the best the area has to offer by the beach, the best Ritz is in Key Biscayne which is too far away I would think for your cruise. If you are looking for more night life than I would say check out the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel. They now have Vegas style slots, poker and blackjack and great live entertainment.
