Noisy Carnival Cruise Ship Ruins Familys Cruise

That is the dumbest article I have read in a long time. They were way overcompensated. I would hate to live next door to those idiots. I have been just off the atrium twice (once on Carnival and once on RC)...didn't hear a peep.

I don't buy that they did not have extra available cabins.......what would they do if someones cabin became uninhabitable.......would they make them sleep in the lounge:confused::rolleyes: I believe they would have cabins open for emergency situations.......just as hotels do......

I was thinking that if these people had to save up $5000.00 (which is still too expensive in my opinion, even if it does include air fare) and he was saving for "years" , then they had plenty of time to do reasearch

You keep comparing this situation to acts of nature or random chance. These cabins will experience loud noise at late hours on every cruise. Seems simple to me for Carnival to disclose this on the front end, LESSON NOT LEARNED. Unfortunately, at the cost of Carnival.

Bandman, I agree. It's one thing to miss a port, bad weather, things

that MAY happen; enduring night after night of loud noise while on a

cruise is a different story. The cruise line/or ta should tell cruisers

before they book that this may happen. Anyway, the OP got MORE

than enough compensation for his troubles. And, I do think he deserved

something.

Gee, I missed a great moneymaking opportunity. On the Elation last week I was on the Serenity deck when one of the big umbrellas came loose and fell over on me. I wasn't hurt, but hey, I suppose I could claim severe emotional trauma and a debilitating fear of large umbrellas. I had to force myself to spend most of the cruise out there.

Then there's the issue of room service arriving 5 minutes late one morning. How I managed to get through the day after that shock is beyond imagining.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This story was amazing, we just returned from our 8 day 30th Anniversary cruise on the Freedom, (LOVED IT!!) deck 6 balcony cabin 6367 right above the casino where the band played every night from 7:30-12:30 am .We never book from Carnival as we use the same TA that we have used since we started cruising on Carnival 6 years ago. She knows we like it semi-quiet as we are early to bed early to rise kinda people, and has always picked us the best cabins

(That will be the last time) anyway the music was soooooooo loud the room shook and my heart pounded with every beat we right away went and ask for another cabin anywhere else on the ship but was told the ship was full, we even offered our balcony cabin up for trade but they wouldnt go for it so we calmly decided we were gonna get off the ship in San Jaun get a refund and stay there for the week, no big deal we didnt blame Carnival . Well when we told Carnival of our Plans they ask us to give them time to work something out , This was Saturday the first day of the cruise our first port was Monday at 5 in the afternoon, so when your first two days are out to sea lol, what choice do you have? Long story Short They called our Cabin by 5 the next day to say that they had and inside cabin on the 7th deck that we could sleep in AND keep our Balcony cabin to enjoy during the day AND they gave us a $530.00 dollar credit

AND a 25 % off our next cruise

AND VIP off the ship at the ports, We were shocked to say the least but were VERY VERY pleased with what Carnival did for us, and would of continued to sail with them even if we would of ended up getting off, but now

We will only sail Carnival and are already looking forward to our next cruise on the Dream

I see both sides (based on the info in the article).

If the noise was "normal conversation" level in my room, I think I'd complain. However, if they offered my a $900 OBC, I'd be a drinkin that noise away (and probably making a fair share of noise myself). LMAO

Without more details, I'd say the Moscoes had a valid complaint. Short of moving them to another room (which I agree with Kurbanfan....they must have a few empties), the $900 OBC was a decent offer of compensation.

And yes, as others have posted, Carnival knows what rooms are noisy. Full disclosure with a discounted rate will make it a non-issue. You book it with full knowledge.....you deal with it.

I have to ask...

How much are the people in the cabins on either side of us going to get, now that I've convinced the DW to try a cruise? I mean sometimes you just can't help but make a little noise. {wink}

lol as long as you keep your screams below 62dB, you should be fine....hummmmmmm * note to self*:D

Interesting. We were in a cabin near the atrium on the Glory and heard music until midnight or later even though we were on a high deck. We didn't complain because we felt that was a downside of a guarantee. I guess that we are not very smart!

No, you're reasonable.

This happened to me a few cruises ago, I was in a hurry and slipped right next to one of the yellow caution cones and was sitting in a puddle of water and laughing so hard at my clumsiness, DH tried to help me up and HE fell and was laughing, so a drink waiter came over trying to pick us both up, he probably weighed 50 pounds less than me (tiny guy) which made me laugh even more! I never once thought it was Carnival's fault nor would I ask for anything for me being uncoordinated! :p

I've done much the same thing... arms flailing like I was trying to flag down a speeding bus, legs movin' faster than a break dancer and ended up on my kiester...

I ground to a halt right next to a 'Decks may be slippery when wet' sign. I felt like a bit of a twit but at least my sense of humor was intact...

:)

Great attitude!! That's certainly making lemonade out of those lemons.

Did the Moscoes think they were going on a silent cruise? I think Carnival's offer of compensation was more than fair, but really, if this couple paid $5,000 for a Carnival cruise for three people (including air and hotel) they have bigger issues than the noise. Perhaps stretching the truth is a large part of their problem.

I dont know who the writer is...

But seriously this cruiser should have taken up the vacation guarantee!

I totally agree. I wonder if they were even offered this option at the purser's desk.

This is totally ridiculous! I would've been drinking my $900 away, just like StuartLittle said. I really think there is more truce to this than what's said. I mean seriously, he'd been saving for years?!?! C'mon!!! Do your damn homework!

I think I want to sue the Moscoes. After reading about their stupid "complaint," my BP went up, which affects my well-being and potentially endangered my life. Additionally, my DH and DD had to deal with me during those 60 seconds I was p*$$ed off, thus affecting their quality of life.

I feel really sorry for the Moscoe's kid, can you imagine? All the poop that poor kid had to listen to and what is he learning?

Some parents just shouldn't be parents.

Carnival bit off tooooo much in my opinion...

Agreed, this is why the cruise prices keep going up, we all pay for it in the long end.
