Rare Acrusa Posted June 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2009 We are thinking of taking Oceania's bus trip to Rome. Does anyone know how long the ride is to Rome by bus?
Oceanurse Posted June 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2009 We took the bus from Rome to Civitavecchia when we sailed on Azamara and it took approximatley 90 minutes on a Saturday. Hope this helps.
Paulchili Posted June 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2009 this could vary by as much as an hour, depending on the day of the week, time of the day and the traffic in the city. The good news is that you will not have to worry about missing the boat.

Jakedog Posted June 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2009 Personally i would take the train. Have done it x4 times previously & never had any problems Takes 1 hour max. Trains run x2/hr. If you google 'Trenitalia' you will be able to see a timetable. Station at Citiv is approx 400m walk from Pier. Cost is 6e return - infinetly cheaper than the O bus & much better views as you travel along the coast.
Aruba Posted June 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2009 Just be alert for train strikes which have been known to happen. We took the O bus on our last visit to Rome. It took about 90 minutes to get to Rome but well over 2 hours to return because of the traffic. Last year the O bus let us off in the Borghese Gardens near Piazza del Popolo. It was supposed to stop at the Spanish Steps and near the Trevi Fountain but for some reason the stop was changed to the west side of Borghese Gardens. Semolina Posted June 20, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 20, 2009 We had friends who took the bus tour on Regatta. They were stuck in traffic a lot and it took a long time. We went independantly into Rome by train and it took around an hour. We left later than the bus people and arrived in Rome ahead of them. If you are good walkers, find a good map of Rome, with the attractions marked and find your own way around. We have done this twice. The tourist agent that boards the ship will give you instructions for the railway station. It is much less costly doing it our way. Have fun, I love Rome.
