Have you always been charged corking fees?

Last February, on the Spirit, I was never charged any corking fees for wine bottles brought to the dining room. Needless to say our waiters got an extra tip at the end of the cruise!

Was I just lucky or are the corking fees skipped on a regular basis?

It's hit and miss... About half the time you'll be charged...

:)

That's interesting. The only time we really put it to the test was on a med cruise. I assumed at the time it was a "European thing" and wine was ingrained into society and that is why we were not being charged. So much for assuming......

I haven't, but then again none of the wine I bring has a cork. :D

On the Ecstasy last month, we were charged for both bottles we brought with us. I was a little bummed, only because I had read here that people are often not charged. But, I was expecting it, so it was fine. I still tipped extra. I might have tipped a bit more extra if we hadn't been charged. :)

I was charged $10 the first night on the Glory, for my 1.5 liter bottle of Pinot Grigio. The next night they tried to charge me again for the same bottle! The waiter straightened it all out.

We haven't been charged yet. We buy wine in the dinning room every night, and if we have a bottle left in our cabin [always have] on the last night we bring it to dinner. Thats also the night they get the extra cash tip.

roflmao!!!

I always hope that by being as honest and fair as I can be on the cruise, it will help my karma and lead to winnings in the casino. So far, so good. In 4 out of 6 Cruises I've taken on Carnival, I've come out ahead at the blackjack tables...

We have been charged. On one cruise we brought a bottle and when we were near the table the waiter took it quickly and wrapped a towel around it. He said if the Maitre D saw it he would have to charge us. So maybe some Maitre D are more strict than others about the corkage fee. Cindy

For the first time ever (after 25 or so cruises on various lines), we were charged this fee on the Fantasy last month. Our waiter seemed so distressed by this and apologized what must've been 20 times. I felt so bad for him. He said they were really cracking down on this now. No problem, we just uncorked our bottles in our room just prior to supper and brought them with us to the table. Wine glasses are already on the table so we were good to go.
