Back from Med Cruise

We just back from our wonderful cruise! If you have any questions I can answer a few. Here are our ports and what we did:

 

Dubrovnik: Walked the walls and city on our own.

Ephesus: Booked ship tour. Was awesome.

Santorini: Walked along little paths and explored on our own.

Corfu: Book ship tour to private beach. All other tours canceled due to tour guide strikes.

Venice: Two days post cruise stay. AMAZING!

Paris: Saw Eiffel Tower

How was the beach in Corfu? Worth booking an excursion or would a quiet day in town be pleasant enough?

Beach was ok. It was behind a hotel. We booked it mostly to say we went to a Greece beach :)

I think a day in town would have been nice too.

You're freaking me out with your name because I am Taffy, too! Every time I see you post I think it is one of mine :)

Splendour was a good ship. I thought it was in good shape except for the little golf course. We had the BEST room! On the 3rd level, end of the hall, right by elevators and only one neighbor! We got upgraded from an inside room to a room with a window.

Our stateroom attendant was fun and really good.

Our waiters were good.

There were two nights we weren't impressed with the menu, meaning, nothing sounded good. And there was one night NO CHOCOLATE dessert was offered! Tsk Tsk!

The staff was friendly and fun. I did the 'Gotta Dance' activity.

Getting on and off the ship was slick.

The other problem we had was the one shore excursion we really wanted to go on was cancelled due to lack of interest. But we booked another and it was great.

AND! Buy the little things, like olive oil soaps, because if you don't you will be kicking yourself wishing you had. I got back and realized I had more people on my Christmas list than I bought for :) I wish I would have bought more soap, scarves and jewelry.

The best place we found in Dubrovnik to shop were the booths by the ship.

From what we heard it was Corfu. Not sure if the guides were just striking Royal or all cruises or what. Sorry. No one elaborated.

We stayed at Hotel Bella Venezia and loved it! Our room overlooked a canal and we could watch and listen as gondolas floated by.

Good breakfast, great staff, easy location to St. Mark's and Rialto Bridge
