SCUBA Mark Posted July 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2009 We just got off the carnival Fantasy and they had a roaming magician in the dining room during dinner. He stopped by our table several times and did some amazing card tricks. He also had a couple of shows during the day on the cruise. One day he taught magic tricks and one of the other days he taught Origami (Japanese paper folding). I can't remember his name but he was from India. This was a very nice touch that I have not seen on any other cruises or cruise lines.

He came by out table every night.:)

[...] This was a very nice touch that I have not seen on any other cruises or cruise lines. We just got off Splendor where a magician - Tejas - came to our table one night. (Despite the name, he was Indian.) He did one card trick than I'm still trying to figure out - very entertaining! I never saw him again on the cruise, though. Whimsy Posted July 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2009 Maybe he could stop by the table on the last night and make all the extra pounds from the cruise disappear! :p
morganboys Posted July 6, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2009 the one on the sensation stated it was something new carnival was trying. he ad only been onboard a couple of weeks. He wandered the ship at night so he stopped by when I was sitting outside the casino with my boys one night. They have no clue as to the ring and string trick he did. The next night he stopped by out table at dinner. The boys asked him to do the same trick for the rest of the table. my nephew was in awe. its a nice little addition with all the cut backs. SenatorsFan Posted July 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 6, 2009 We saw one on our Valor cruise in '08; he came by our table one night in the dining room and impressed my 2 sons. He said if we enjoyed him to say so on our comment card. I forgot to say anything, but I'm glad to hear this is happening still as I thought it was a good idea. ehfl Posted July 6, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2009 They had a couple of roaming magicians in the main dining room on the Valor. This seemed a bit cheesy. Might be fine for the buffet, but not in the formal dining room, except maybe for a table with lots of kids. The tricks were all very simple, and they kept doing the same tricks every night. Clearly this was not a full-time job for these folks. I think they gave an introductory magic trick book to some of the staff and told them to learn the tricks. nolaAlive Posted July 6, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 6, 2009 I have seen one of Splendor and most recently on Spirit. And yes, they all seem to be from India.
poobears Posted July 6, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 6, 2009 We were on Fantasy recently and no magician, didn't see anything in the capers for it either. Did they start it in the last week? Sounds fun.
