What is the dock area like??

We have never been to Barbados and I wanted to know if the area where the boat docks has beaches within walking distance that are nice. Is there a fee to use them? Is there a shopping area nearby? I will be there on my birthday...any suggestions?

 

This cruise is last-minute and I don't have much time to plan activities at 6 different ports in less than 2 weeks from now!!!

Laurie, there are some nice shops in the port terminal and there is a nice craft village about 1/2 mi. walk from the terminal. It's called Pelican Village Crafts Centre. http://cruisebarbados.com/barbados_activity.cfm?ID=43

My brother, niece and myself just found this guide...Corrie Williams 246-239-1699...He will take you around the island (he knows his island very well) he'll probably drop you at any beach and take you back to the ship...Very common on the islands just negotiate your price before...(we went to the beach before wish we had found him first. big guy so nice and his mini van is brand new w/ A/C)they all take US dollars....
