deepnite10 Posted July 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2009 i do know that NCL has/had a pretty good military program.. used it befor and was able to save nearly $400 on our cruise.. however, after viewing the most recent rates i ve notice that they ve cut the discount rate back.. using the code PGMIL i was able to compare the reg. rate vs. military..and the differance is alot less than i received for my past jan. cruise.. veggie59 Posted July 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I was told that they re-structured how the discounts work. I know there is a chart which reflects the percentage amounts. The sailings that are further out get 10% and the closer ones get up to 5%. Previously the chart had discounts up to 30% for some sailings. I do not see any on the chart that are over 10%. MNmomof4 Posted July 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2009 What's dissapointing is that the military rate doesnt always qualify for other promotions. They current pepsi promotion wont be honored with the military rate which is unfortunate
Gatorney Posted July 24, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2009 We are going to Alaska May 2010 and all the Alaska cruises (at least on the Pearl) are only a 5% discount, so you are still doing better than we did! It seems like it depends on the promotion whether they will combine with the discount or not, though, because we got the OBC they were offering at the time we booked (the 3-day sale in June) and also got a discount by booking through our timeshare network. CRUZIN TOM Posted July 24, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2009 If you get a "casinos at sea" card on the ship and gamble while on your cruise, you can get a minimum of 17% off you next cruise. we have used this option on our last 3 cruises.:)

Victress2007 Posted July 26, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Let's face it, as cheap as most cruises are right now we can't really complain that they are only taking off another 5 or 10%. I appreciate the fact that they give any kind of a military discount and make it available to retired military - the ones who have time to do a little cruising! (Only work 10 hours a day now instead of 12-14) Vic
Elde Posted July 26, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 26, 2009 I appreciate the fact that they give any kind of a military discount and make it available to retired military I appreciate the fact that it's available to active duty, retirees, and non-retiree veterans.. Those of us who are vets but not retirees and not disabled pretty much are completely ignored when it comes to military/veteran discounts. It's almost like our service wasn't worthy because we don't carry an easy to verify ID card. Which really cheeses me off because I was part of a huge cohort who joined in the late 1970's and early 1980's, when being in the military wasn't cool, and despite benefits being at an all time low (no GI bill) during the volunteer era... and a large percentage of us were 'kicked to the curb' when the Wall came down and the politicians were busy cashing the 'Peace Dividend'. We weren't even allowed the choice to stay in and complete our careers and retire. We are the forgotten generation of veterans.
