Rare Hlitner Posted August 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2009 All the stores, cafes, and restaurants in Gibraltar will accept Euros, Pounds Sterling, or US dollars. They even have ATMs that will dispense in the currency of your choice. Hank

I'd been meaning to ask the same question and just never remembered when I was near the computer.
Costafox Posted August 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Just bear in mind that although you can use UK pounds in Gibraltar, you can't use Gibraltar pounds anywhere else. Best Wishes Gill
PennyT Posted August 19, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2009 For value it is always better to pay in pounds or use your credit card in Gibraltar, as exchange rates to euro or dollar are not normally favourable in shops/bars/restaurants. The post office only accept pounds if you are looking to send postcards or letters.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 19, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2009 We were there in 2008. While it is true that you have various options I found that it was easier in British Pounds. Keith
artsy-girl Posted August 21, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 21, 2009 We were there in May. Most larger places will let you choose to pay in Pounds or Euros. Buses and small shops want Pounds only.
