sharke Posted August 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2009 Anyone used Driver In Rome for a tour lately? Tips? Did the driver provide area information or did you need separate guide? Considering tour from Livorno. All input appreciated. Thanks

sharke Posted August 28, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted August 28, 2009 Actually I am looking at them for a tour out of Livorno. 1/2 day in Florence 1/2 day in Lucca. Someone mentioned they just provide drivers but their website looks as if it is inclusive of a tour. (I know for the Vatican they will add a guide for an extra charge) Just wanted to get opinions of anyone who has been with them recently. Does the driver provide historical, incidental info, etc? I know they will get our tickets to the Uffizi (already the Accademia). I think we can do this on our own. Appreciate any info fellow cruisers can provide. cruizingondown Posted August 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2009 You must use Fabrizio, he is wonderful. We just returned in July and he was the very best tour guide ever! He loves Rome and wants you to see EVERYTHING! Amazing. His website is www.allarounditaly.net. If you want pix or questions, please email at knitsnbag@hotmail.com Thanks, Karen Davidsaver
BurBunny Posted September 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 1, 2009 Technically, they do just provide a driver. To be a guide in Italy requires a separate license. But every driver I've had with Driver in Rome has been an excellent "guide" as well. Lots of background information about the areas you're visiting, but they cannot escort you inside sites. Let them get your Uffizi tickets - there shouldn't be an additional charge and it's one less thing for you to have to deal with.

maryann ns Posted September 2, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2009 If you go back to the Italy forums and do a search putting in the names of companies, for example, "driver in Rome", you will find previous posts.
abouna Posted September 2, 2009 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2009 We just used him for three ports, Naples (Amalfi Coast, be sure to go to the restaurant he suggests in Positano), Rome, and livorno. He was the best. Funny, knowledgeable and knows his way around, no lines for anything in all three ports (granted it was vacation time). I agree with everything below. tosy You must use Fabrizio, he is wonderful. We just returned in July and he was the very best tour guide ever! He loves Rome and wants you to see EVERYTHING! Amazing.
