Can teenagers use the gym?

I am leaving tomorrow morning on the Triumph ...my 17 yr old daughter just asked me if she would be allowed in the gym...does anyone know if they would allow her to use it?

Spa Carnival and Gym:

Guests under 16 years of age are not permitted in these facilities. Guests between the ages of 16 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Under 16, you're not allowed at all.

17 and 18 need parental supervision.

Doesn't make sense an 18 year old would require adult supervision in the gym.

I guess Carnival thinks 18 year olds are not qualified to use a treadmill and but are more than than qualified to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They hardly enforce this. I saw them ask a boy about 12 yrs. old to leave but they don't bother teenagers. My son is 17 and he used the gym almost daily with no problem.

I have never seen them ask someone to leave. On more than one occasion I have been working out and waiting to get on one of the (few) recumbent bikes and watched kids basically playing on them. By "kids" I mean 11/12 years old. It was like a playground - while their mother went about her workout. Yes - I could have brought this up to someone, but I have been able to wait it out (sometimes 20+ minutes) and then I'm able to get to a bike.

It would not be as much of an issue if Carnival would keep their equipment in better shape. There might be 3 recumbent bikes. Out of those you are lucky if two work well. The third is either "out of order" or the resistance is erratic... not to mention oddly loud! It's always amusing sitting on a bike and watching several people in front of you on the treadmills (not for that reason!) on sea days when the ship is moving quite a bit --- you can see them all drift from one side to another over and over. That would drive me nuts (and used to when I used treadmills). Yes, I am obviously easily entertained... but that's a good thing!

No - it does not make sense. I think that by Carnival saying "between" 16 and 18 they must mean from 16.0 years UP TO (but not including) 18. It would be ridiculous for them to allow someone who is 18 in the casino, but not the gym. But who am I to say!!

Just an added FYI...if your kid is an athlete (on a sports team), bring a note from the coach asking for permission to use the gym for continued training/conditioning. My D was a competitive athlete in training for the Sydney Olympics (for an exhibition sport) when she was 12, and was granted permission to utilize the gym. At least one adult family member was with her.

PS - does anyone know how I can remove my "extra" counter? It drives me crazy.

Actually, I meant to say 16 and 17 need adult supervision. Somehow my brain was just counting up.

Sixteen and older can be there,

I've cruised over ten times with my two sons and no one ever asked them a thing[they are 14 and 16 but quite tall for their age]

The situation seems to be different when there are adult pools on the ship.:)

One of our sons was 15 on our last cruise. He looks older than he is and works out at a gym several times a week so I'm sure his experience was obvious. Nobody ever bothered him or questioned him. Had he looked as though he was just bumbling around and likely to hurt himself or interfere with others it might have been a different story.
