When Azamara docks in Klong Toey Bangkok is it portside or starboard at the dockside? And if occupying a cabin on the dockside of the ship is it noisy? Thankyou!

You can never tell which way the ship docks it depends on tidal conditions etc

When we were there on the Journey, she docked starboard to. But like uktog says, it does depend on tides and weather. You are upstream on a major river, so the prevailing current would favor starboard docking....but things can always change! It is a busy commercial port, but we didn't find the noise excessive, and we were on the starboard side.

Enjoy....it was a wonderful cruise thru SE Asia! :)

When docked at Klong Toey this past February, Quest turned when it arrived at its berth and faced back down river. This made the port side of the ship against the dock. We were on the starboard side, where all the action of the river was taking place. You had long tail boats and ferries zipping from one bank to the other, barges pulling all sorts of cargo down and up stream and ships being loaded mid river. It could be noisy and smelly at times, hot and steamy, but always fascinating.

As you disembark there is a small wharehouse where taxi drivers and tours operators wait for your business then outside to where the shuttle coaches drive you through the vast dock area, then into the centre of Bangkok. I can't say for sure, but it looked like it was the quieter, but less interesting side.

View of dockside Bangkok - not inspiring !

While I agree that the dockside views aren't the greatest, here are a few other shots of a little park adjacent the terminal area and of the super friendly Thai shuttle drivers and guides serenading us with YMCA just prior to sailing away....LOL!!!
