Engine room fire on Emerald?

It wasn't an engine room fire no matter what you read. It was a ventilation supply fan belt on deck 16 that caught fire. Smoke did get into the engine room through ventilation ducts but there was no fire in or anywhere near the engine room. Once discovered, it was quickly put out. NBD

My husband and I were on a cruise Sept 2014 on the Emerald out of Southampton. We were 5 hours out when an announcement was made that there was a fire in the engine room, we were told to stay put (it was 11 pm) Approx 1/2 hour later they announced that all was well, that a rag had caught fire. All was well for the rest of the cruise. It is a bit scary to hear when you are on board.
