No, not related to the all-inclusive drinks thread :)

Can I take a small travel steamer on board? I’m sure I have read somewhere that you cannot take a travel iron but I was wondering about a steamer for taking the fold creases out of t shirts etc.

I know about using the shower steam for de creasing dress shirts and tux but t shirts won’t be hung up on hangers just left folded up in a draw /suitcase.

The answer is probably no, due to elf and safety issues.

Your device has not been tested by P&O to see if it is electrically safe or might set the ship alight ;)

Can't see that they won't allow you. After all. Phone chargers, laptop and camera chargers are not taken off you.

If you roll t-shirts instead of folding, they're much less creased.

The power drain on those items is much less than an iron or a steamer. I have to bring a CPAP machine with me and although it is regularly checked by the Hospital it was issued by the ships Electrical Officer still has to check it to see if it is safe.

There are also the irons that are available in the launderettes onboard. I have found them to be quite good :)

We once did a ships bridge tour and were told the reason no irons etc is that the alarms are very sensitive. If the alarm goes off, then the security people have to visit the cabin to check all is well. They even said that someone had set off the alarm by using too much hair spray!:confused:

a quick steam won`t give any more steam than the kettle boiling.

I take my hair tongs too. I'm sure a steamer wouldn't do any harm.

The steamer in no larger than a small travel kettle and holds around a cup full of water. I think I'll take it and ask the cabin stewards if it's ok to use

Suites come with irons and ironing boards.
